i was wondering what kind of mufflers every body else is running. i want something with a deep very loud.....did i mention VERY LOUD!!!!.....sound to it. i dont want a lil sissy boy honda weedeater sound LOL if anyone has a muffler with a good sound off like that let me know please

Damn that's too loud LOL. I'd say get a dunk and run straight piping all the way back. My friend has it on his talon and it is the meanest sounding thing i have ever heard.

you tube has a good video of an apexi dunk megaphone on a 99 prelude and it sounds bad@$$ LOL if it sounds like that at high way speeds i would totally get it. thats close enough to what im looking for but still could go a lil deeper tone and a good bit louder LOL

well, im not too sure about 420a's but, if you want it loud and you have an N/A dont go over a 2.5 inch pipe, and if allowed in your area to remove your cat... any good Muffler (loudener in this case) that doesnt fall apart when welded on is going to give you a hell of a noise, even more so if you get a glaspack muffler. an NA will be louder than a forced induction because the turbo acts as a muffler. also make your intake pipe solid metal and not stock rubber hosing, the harder pipe makes all of the engine noise louder and more efficient...

Well I for one went with a Thermal R&D Catback and a Megan Racing Downpipe. I had the 2.5" section cut off and a 3 inch Section welded it so It is full 3" from the Turbo back with no cat. It is very deep and loud. When above 3500rpm it gets this mean growl like a racing bmw. Very exotic sounding. It turns heads and my car is the only car that sounds like it in town.
I have awd and you are fwd, both manufactures make fwd or awd they wont fit each other.
Here is a pretty good video,YouTube - Eclipse Turbo Back Thermal R&D Exhaust maybe one day I will film mine.

no offense.....but HELL NO!!!! that sounds like a weedeater or dirt bike on steroids LOL na what im looking for is a deeper tone than that. but then again i grew up wit my dad owning a dodge desiel wit no muffler or cat so thats more the low tone i want LOL

You wanted loud...that car was the loudest at the Shootout...

I dont know if I would go as far as saying this car (1997_GSX's car) has a "mean growl". It isn't close to mean at all...I've seen this thing.

i have a magnaflow and its a nice sound you wont really get a real deep sound seeing how its just a 4 cylinder i had ran an open down pipe and i will admit it was loud but it was nice at the same time you could just gut your cat and just run an open cat

i have an older tanabe racing medallion and that thing is loud even with my stock downpipe.

I think your engine is missing about 4 cylinders to get a nice deep sound :p

Your dad's diesel has a turbo between the engine and the exhaust pipe. The turbo breaks up the exhaust pulses that cause the raspy sound.

To get a lower tone you will need more volume (bigger pipes) in the exhaust.

To get a loud exhaust use less restriction in the cat and muffler.

To get loud and low without the raspy sound run the exhaust through a turbo.

I ran a Airmass Thundermuff system on my '97 GS for a while because it was the cheapest system I could find a the time. Seven years ago there weren't 32 pages of exhaust systems on eBay....I had to use what I could find a deal on.

If you're looking for a LOUD non-turbo system, that's the one. The muffler itself was only about 10" long, so it did absoultely nothing when you were on the throttle. It actually needed a resonator- there was a little too much buzz around 3800 for my taste, but you'll have that with a non-turbo.

When you were just cruising around, it sounded very cool though. Low-restriction, it had that SRT4 garble at low RPM.

Im running a 42/1 header muffler on my turboed 420a, its a nice sound, but then again i do have a turbine wheel between my manifold and muffler.
