Ticking stopped, now no power steering / battery light is on ???

My gsx has had this odd ticking sound to it usually when its starts and tends to get louder/faster as i rev. Im pretty sure its not that lifter tick either becuase i know that different sound.

But i got off work round 11 and i went to my car and when i turned it on the ticking was real loud and then it kinda stopped. I also noticed that i had no power steering and my battery light was on. This could hav nothin to do with the ticking for all i know but does anyone know what this could be???

(my dad suggests the alternator belt snapped and i dont hav time to go check right now)

In the time it took you to write this post you could have done a quick visual underhood inspection. Nonetheless, check your power steering belt and get a new alternator. Most likely the ticking was the bearings in the alternator on their way out. Let us know how it turns out. Sean

You're Dad's probably right. The power steering and alternator run off of the same belt. If you have no steering and your alternator is not charging you battery, then the belt probably broke or fell off.

This is likely. Your belt was probably rubbing against the timing belt cover because the balancer is failing. Eventually it wore through the belt and snapped it.

Check your balancer and if it wobbles at all as the engine is running, replace it.
