Ticking sound

ok iv read threads about engine ticking. and im pretty sure i have a bad lifter it was really loud for about 2 months and just this week it stoped and i cant hear it. Did it clean itself up or what. And also how do i go about replacing a lifter?

ok well i had the same problem what i have herd is that this is comin on dsm it is a lifter sometimes its loud and sometimes it will stop and come back. what i have been told was to put Lucas motor oil on them that will make it to stop with the noise.

Well if you know it was lifter tick and now its gone, then it sounds like your good.

Are you sure it was lifter tick? I have had an exhaust leak at the mani to head and turbo to mani sound just like a lifter tick. So much so that I replaced all my lifters with the 3g revised ones and it still ticked. God was I pissed. I went to harbor freight and bought a stethoscope and found the tick right at the exhaust gasket.

I have had an exhaust leak get quieter over time as its gets plugged up with carbon buildup. Got any black sooty areas under the heat shield?

if you go to change the lifters (If thats the problem) then i would see if you could buy some 3g lifters, i have some in my 1g head and theres no lifter tick at all

well i dont think its and exhaust leak. but how much would it cost to fix the lifters
