I'm posting this in the drivetrain section cause thats what I think the problem is.
I having a clicking/ticking noise coming from (I think, I'm partially deaf) the left rear of my car. What I think it is is the axle, mind you my car as 15,6xx miles on it.
I originally thought it would be the brake(s) releasing. But I dont' think it is cause it does it sometimes when I am going from a stop and haven't used my breaks. The noise happens when the car first goes in any direction, i.e. from a stop. I engage the gear I wan to start in (r/1), release the clutch and give a little gas, a little slip, the car starts going in the direction I want then there is one loud (not excessive, but enough for me to hear it clearly and annoyingly) that comes from the rear like I said.
When backing up, it will do it when I start going in reverse, then again albeit a little quieter when I put it in first and take off. I can say this happens at ALMOST but not all the time when I stop. I wanna say its something to do with an axle.
Any takers on this as to what the noise is?

you know what, that never occured to me. i'll be at a shop tonight to check on that. thank you very much. since that is the side that slide into the edge of the road with, thats a very good possiblity
