Hey guys i have a 95 ported manifold with a 38mm welded on # 1 runner..I keeps blowing out the gasket that goes between the wastegate to the manifold..Any idea if someone sells a better stronger one..i heard someone makes a fire ring one ..where do i find them ..thanks :)

Turbonetics makes a fire ring gasket, and someone on DSMTalk was making stainless steel gaskets - I've been running one of his "prototypes" for quite some time now.

are you using copper right now? Have you tried stainless steel? Use stainless steel, tighten the bolts as tight as possible without breaking them, and use red high temp loc tite. Thats what it took for me to get mine to quit blowing. If it still blows than the flange is warped.

Agreed on the stainless steel gasket. The gaskets that actually come with the tial wastegates...the composite or whatever the hell it is are crap. I got one from RRE when I ordered some other stuff for pretty cheap.

SBR sells one I bought it for a friend and it has been fine for 8,500 miles. Check out the website.

search i've read a thread about someone with a similar problem, and he found some gaskets that solved his problem

I ditched the gasket altogether, and used copper Permatex. I have not had a problem since. Of course, its success is dependant on your flanges on the wastegate and manifold not being warped.

I ordered a gasket from them and it has been 10 days and it still has not come :(
I used two gaskets that I made from cosmetic material and I blew it right at the end of my race tonight Bah. I hope this shit does not become a issue. I will throw my manifold and the wastegate in the ####ing garbage. I am so not in the ####ing mood for this when i am supposed to be running on the track on Friday

#### #### ####.
Edit: Why the #### do i only have 5 post :sigh

Do like the guy above you did. Thow away your gasket material and just put some copper silicone on it.

I used to blow threw them gaskets all the time too. I said f-that and tried without the gasket. Have not had a problem since!

I tried without the gasket and my car sounded like a tank . I am going to make another gasket and try the rtv. Hopefully it holds up. I dont want to miss the track day being i already took off work for it

Frankly you don't need to use a gasket or rtv. Just make sure the flanges are flat and bolt it up nice and tight and it will not leak. I got tired of using gaskets and rtv so i just bolted it up with nothing to see what would happen and there was no leaks. I did this with my old evoIII manifold which was tapped on the #1 runner and the now new sbr manifold that i have.

DSMjims method of RTV...I and most of the guys in my town use something similar.

I and most of the guys I know in my town use a similar method. Its the only way that I haven't had leaks at the turbo-manifold gasket. A thin layer of thick wheelbearing grease and no gasket. Let it idle for a while before driving, and drive easy with no boost for a few miles to get it good and hot. Grease burns off leaving a hard carbon deposit that seals great. Haven't blown one out yet, and no retorqueing turbo bolts all the time.

So i threw a metal gasket and some copper rtv and it still leaks. Pulled it off and this is what i found...

Take it to a machine shop and just have them make it flat again.
