so im pretty much more pissed at a car than ive ever been. im on my way back to school from my house, i get two blocks from my place in west chester, turn the corner and my gas pedal gets stuck and wont move and the rpm's shoot way way up and dont come down. pull over, turn the car off for a second. turn it back on, no difference, pedal still wont move. i dunno what the hell happened but i had to push it into a parking lot im not allowed to park in and i dunno what the hell is going on but i cant use my gas pedal. car officially down. can anyone help me

This is the MAIN symptom of failing throttle body shaft seals. When they are failing they will cause the throttle to stick open. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body and check it for any binding to rule out a bad throttle cable. If the throttle plate is still stuck open, replace or rebuild it with new throttle body seals. I ordered the seals from JNZtuning.com recently or MACHV.com

+1, change your throttle body shaft seals. :thumb:

Although it could be the shaft seals, this sounds more like a problem with the cruise control box. You will also need a new keyboard with a working shift key.

thanks for the input guys. im gonna go look at it in a little bit after my bed gets delivered. hopefully my car didnt get towed from where i left it. i was two blocks from my house when this nonsense happened. wish me luck.

I don't think he got the tip. ROFL

97civic, you need to use proper punctuation, capatalization, and grammar.

I had this happen twice to me on the highway and it scared me to death. I was doing a pull and let off and the pedal didn't come up! I kicked it a couple times and it came up. It never did it again after those two times. I have a 1g TB now so I don't know if my seals were failing or not on the old one.
