Throttle Cable Issue

Alright here's the deal, and yes i searched, i am buying a 1995 Talon TSi AWD for my girlfriend for 2500. We went and test drove it this morning and we are picking it up on tuesday. Car runs great the only problem is the throttle is stiff and hard to push down(wheather running or not) and when you floor it the pedal returns to normal position but the cable at the top of the pedal stays all the way out. As soon as you barely touch the end of the cable it goes right back to where it should be and the throttle body itself is functioning properly. I was kind of thinking it could be it's too tight or too loose and/or it's getting stuck somewhere. Anybody have any idea wheather the same or not and any suggestions on how to fix it?

Did you look at it under the hood, and do it by hand. You can check to see what its getting stuck on if it is. IF its not lined in its holder properly, the fix could be as easy as that.

I followed the cable from the throttle body into it's sheathing i guess i'd call it, and it doesn't look like it's kinked or hung up anywhere. The throttle body opens manually under the hood just as good as my GSX so i'm sure it's the cable somewhere.

Does this car have cruise control? The stiffness can come from the springs in the control box getting rusty. A healthy blast of WD-40 got rid of the stiff pedal for me.

YES!!!!!!!!!!It does. I didn't even think of the cc having anything to do with it. So where would I spray the WD-40 in the control box?

Do i use the wd-40 in the circular control box on the passenger side shock tower or the box looking one on the firewall?
