i am planning on cleaning my throttle body tomarrow morning and i was wondering... since you have to take the 4 bolts out to get the elbow leading from the intake to the throttle body off, it looks like that is also the only thing holding the throttle body on... does this mean i should get a new gasket for the throttle body when doing this? also is there just the base gasket or is there another gasket between the elbow and the TB?

also any tips are appreciated

thanks

2 of the 4 bolts that hold the throttle body are studs which will hold the TB in place when you remove the elbow. Their are 2 gaskets, the first one goes between the TB and intake and the second goes between the TB and elbow. You can pull just the elbow off and keep the TB attached, but I don't recommend it since that is a common place for a boost leak. And yes those 4 bolts are the only thing besides some hoses and the throttle cable that holds the TB on. But whatever you do make sure you put some rtv on the gasket surfaces.

Well besides the two bolts and two nuts there are the coolant lines, electrical plugs for the tps and isc, and throttle cable. But don't worry, its all pretty straight forward.

If your using new gaskets (which you should), RTV shouldn't be needed.

Tighten the throttle body bolts/nuts in a diagnal fashion.

ok i have a base gasket on order and it will be in tomarrow... but i have gasket material... would it be ok to cut these 2 gaskets out of it (worked well in my past cars) or are the special materials?
