Throttle Body Bleed Nipple

Hi,

I have smoke coming from my exhaust after about 5 minutes of idling or driving. I recently did a head gasket change so I have many theories on what the problem may be. While I was eyeing little problems under the engine, I noticed the hose that goes from the throttle body nipple (right on top) that connects to the plastic hose (behind intake manifold and goes to passenger side of car) was brittle. I replaced it and it seems to seal okay BUT if it would break seal while the engine was running, would this cause smoke out the tail pipe?

I really don't see how but thought I would get some other input.

Thanks for reading my crazy thread. I really don't understand the need for the hose at all. My FSM doesn't show much.

Are you referring to the two little hoses coming out of the top of the throttle body where it is stamped AEP or whatever? Those are just emissions lines and wouldn't be the root of your problem. They do get brittle and decay overtime and can cause all sorts of idle issues and for the boosted guys, hella boost leaks. However I think you need to look elsewhere at your problems, including perhaps your botched the head gasket job.
