*Update* No longer using Red!

Normally I do not care what others think but I figured I'd ask you tuners out there your opinion on my Engine Bay color scheme idea AND see if you had a suggestion for a color idea.

Ive had alot of time to think about this because well my car is out of commision at the moment and I want more positive things to think about beside all of the bad things concerning my car.

I was leaning towards something different from having cheap ass blue wire loom everywhere because I want a dazzling, functional and different engine bay than what you've seen before.

Here is my idea for my project.

Purple and of course polished aluminum and stainless steel.

Purple:
Valve Cover with polished letters
Greddy Type BOV
AFPR
Inline Fuel Filter
Fuse Box Cover
Timing Belt
Brake Fluid Res Cover

Polished Aluminum/Stainless Steel:
Stainless Steel Vacuum Lines
Oil Feed and Return Lines
Fuel Feed and Return Lines
Exhaust Manifod Heatsheild
Hard Intercooler Piping
Intake
Downpipe to Muffler
Catch Can
Coolant overflow

i wouldnt do the red try going with one color in the engine bay + the polished /chrom ... im my self going with gold rims, gold valve cover, and gold fuse box cover , golf afpr , polished jmf mani , polished radiator ,polished oil catch , polished overflow ,and rest will be black as far as bolts and nuts im going with gold fender washers with chrome hex bolts to replace all 12mm and 10mm bolts and titanium nuts for the strut tower and any other nut in engine bay ... heres the link where i got my stuff . . Titanium Fasteners Metric, Titanium Bolts, Titanium Nuts, Dress Up Bolts, ARP Metric Bolts ..... NRG Fender Washer Kit P/N: FW-100, BLACK, BLUE, GREEN, NEW BLUE, ORANGE, PURPLE, RED, ROSE GOLD, SILVER, TITANIUM

I like the sound of whats going on under your hood. Ive been going back and forth with either taking away red or keeping it. I'm at a crossroads. My mishimoto Rad Hoses came in red and the only other option was Black.

well since your car is black i would go with red make it pop .. i learned that too much color under the hood is not that good if i were u i would go with red valve cover, red rad hoses , rer afpr , and fusebox cover .. then like polished/chrome stuff that u have ,, too much red will over do the idea and u can also get red lug nots will bring the color theme together

I like red as much as the next guy but I have YET to see someone do purple good. Maybe less color is best in the instance of DSMs The simpler the DSM the sexier it looks.

I dunno about the valve cover being red. Something about a Red Valve cover doesnt sit right with me. It reminds me of like 70% of Honda VTEC valve covers out there

I'd do max of 3 colors. For my build, I'm doing the engine bay itself satin black along with most of the components under the hood in the same color. A few of the major parts that our eyes see will be the same shade as the car, which will eventually be a graphite silver. Then things like vac lines and such will be accented in blue, but not over done in a way it'll distract from the main 2 colors.

Oh god. please for the love of god spare that poor car. It's a 2gb black gsx. It's not a neon.

This is sexy

Sounds nice man. I think for myself doing vac lines will be too much so I'm not gonna do vac lines in color. Instead i might make my own ss vac lines. Pretty cheap and simple thing todo. Ads a slight bit of flare if applied correctly. But too much color in my engine bay would be more of a nusance then a pleasure

IMO the only good vacuum line colors are SS or black SS. LOL. As for the color scheme, I would stick with one color and polished/black parts. Your lucky to have a black car/engine bay since you can do the whole purple/chrome/black scheme and pull it off well. I'd go that route and skip the red. If you want some epic purple cam gears for cheap lemme know :D.

Your absolutly right. I'm totally skipping and not going with red (Stuck with the current Rad hoses for now) Purple and Stainless Steel it is. My couplers will be of course Black.

Send me a PM about those cam gears I'll be wanting them in a month or so,

Purple and Stainless sounds like itll look really good. When I do mine im going to keep it just black and stainless, kinda dull to most but i am not going for flashy at all. just clean! Good luck post pics when you get some things done.

I'm pretty uncreative so I'll just stick with my red engine bay + black hoses. I try not to think too much about it, I've been pretending it doesn't exist so I won't have to deal with it. I feel like if I got the ball rolling on it, id want to get it absolutely perfect and clean, pull all the wires and re-run, and seeing how much work other people have put into it, id rather just not start :) Good on you though for going at it.

I forgot I did silver vac lines on my last spyder and it looked quite nice. Had the raw metal kind of look to it that the valve cover had.

I will definatly post pictures for you guys here and in my journal. I have a hard time finding vac line fittings that arent red and blue though, if I can make my own I would have anodized purple fittings.

I went with an all-purple engine-bay, including the exhaust manifold, turbo, and downpipe. If you want to know, it was all exactly the same purple as the top of a Tial wastegate.

Sadly, this car burned to the ground on the way home from the bodyshop that painted my engine, so I don't have a picture.

I'm sure that this was just bad luck.

I'd rather not talk about this any more. It hurts to think about. In 19 days it will be the five-year anniversary of the event.

I personally love the idea of the purple and black. I haven't really seen it except when I am playing NFSU2, hahaha. It needs to be a deep purple, no super bright colors. Just the accents too. Its the little things that will make it pop. Can't wait to see pics.
Also, someone posted this in another thread they've got some purple options. Never used them though, so dont take my word on how it will turn out.

Shawna has a black Evo with the polished/purple engine bay theme going; she also did it to her silver DSM before she got the Evo and it looked good.

That is a very beautiful and clean looking engine bay. Also that is the deep metalic-like purple I am going for.

I definatly do not want to overdue it with the purple or the shiney stuff. I tend to stay away from "Chrome-like shine". But Polished Aluminum and stainless steel braiding is too hard to resist. I was looking through the painted valve covers thread and saw some pretty nice spray can purple valve covers, but I guess to get that really deep and sexy color pictured above, it would have to be professionaly done.

On my red 2g my wheels didnt turn out the way i wanted, and they ended up being like a color changing purple, I know right red with purple? Funny thing is it actually looks good, still in the process of putting it back together but I also did my valve cover with the same paint with polished letters and it looks pretty dang sick IMO.

The paint was supposed to be "color changing" between red and blue, well dead on them they look blue, way off to the side in the sunlight they look maroon, anywhere in between they are straight purple, but at. Night they will simply look black, I really like the look I got with them, and unfortunately my phone wont allow me to add images or post attachments on this forum OMG

I need to this this valve cover man. Sounds sick
