Those using DSMLink, is your car "driveable" using default injector settings?

I was wondering from those of you using DSMLink to tune in larger-than-stock injectors if your car was at least "driveable" using the default global fuel and deadtime settings for your injectors (before performing any fine tuning of these settings)? I plan on installing Denso 660cc injectors with DSMLink defaulted to these particular injectors, but I may have to drive a few miles before I can begin to fine-tune these settings. Does this sound feasible? Thanks for any input.

It should only take about 15 minutes or less to fine-tune the settings, what's preventing you from doing that? That being said, yes, you should be able to drive it straight out of the box, but I'd highly recommend fine-tuning them before doing any tuning or long drives.

My car was very driveable with the baseline settings. In fact my fuel trims weren't even that far off (about 6%). Your results may vary, but they should be fine to drive around/start the car on.

Yes, no worries, depending on the injector it may stumble abit a certain rpms (if the injector happens to be fairly far off what its rated for) but will still be easily driveable. Denso makes some great injectors so I don't see you having any issues at all.

I just put in some fic 750's and the link and my car is driveable. It took me about 30 minutes to get the trims within 5% but i got them there. Im still messing with it because I still dont want to do WOT since my fuel is not yet right. But its atleast drivable.

Thanks for your responses, daren_p and dyablo. Yeah, daren_p, I've read quite a few positive reviews on the Denso injectors.

With my Denso 720's, I just took the exact settings they had in the manual and put them in. I haven't touched it since, and it runs great.

Mine started and ran off of the base settings. It was pig rich, but nevertheless, it was driveable. Like someone had already stated, you can get a good tune with dsmlink very quickly. After a couple third gear pulls, and a few adjustments to your fuel and timing tables, you should be able to make the adjustments to the base tune and have a decent street tune.

fully tuned with three different setups, my settings were very similar to the default. Car ran great untuned with just default injector settings.

How do you have 3 differnet setups? I just started tuning with link but I didnt know you could have different setups. Is your different setups for different gas?

You can't actually have 3 setups to choose from similar to the old EFI PMS system where it's stored inside the ECU and you just scroll through them. However, you can tune for different conditions and save the logs, and then when conditions come along that require a certain setup (altitude, temp, boost, etc) you can bring up the appropriate log, save it to the ECU and BAM!!! You're on a different setup....takes all of a minute to change from one setup to another from a "turned off" laptop.

I just wanted to follow-up on this thread. I found that my car was quite driveable with the default values for the 660cc injectors. My LTFT Lo was initally at about +9% and my LTFT Mid was at about +2%. I have since tweaked the global fuel and deadtime values to reach an LTFT Lo of +1% and LTFT Mid of -1%. Thanks again for all the help!

There is a option under the ECU menu, load/save/type, near the bottom where you can save to file, write to ecu, etc. This allows you to save a file with all the config settings (not just a log) for different tunes, then you can load different tune files into the ecu.

I have greddy 660s also, ordered link with the denso 660 default settings, ran just fine. Was and still running rich, but thats due to other fuel issues, more specifically, FP. After reading dsmlink forums (which you should) I have to make sure the LTFT lo/mid is setup, and thats what is tweaking with my entire fuel system because I am still running rich. Ahhhhh!

by setups I meant two different motors, 3 sets of injectors and 3 turbos. All were completely different setups and as I upgraded all were tuned for high boost on pump gas.

Yeah, I think the Denso 660s may be conservatively rated for fuel flow - I ended up setting my global fuel 1% leaner than the default setting for these injectors (-33% instead of the default value of -32%) to get my fuel trims in line.

The only thing I had to change from the default settings was dead time, 850's usually like to be around 315 but the default was 330 ....easy change that only affected fuel trims for a short time.

My Denso 660s tested at 710cc/min @ 43psi by FIC and running a slightly higher base FP of 40psi, a global setting of -38% got my trims in line. Recent thread on DSMLink Forums if you didnt' see it :dsm:
