In advance, please bare with me as I am typing from my Droid phone.
This question is for you guys running FP5r/FP11 any of the Kelford 280 Cam combos.
I remember sitting down with Jake and picking his brain about his camzilla setup and got into the subject of drivability for such large cams. He told me it was fine and even though I definitely take his word for it I still would like more input seeing as a lot more people are running these monster setups.
For those unfamiliar with my "Raven" build thread (feel free to check it out, click the link in my sig) the main goal of the build was to setup a full/true street car (meaning DOT tires, full glass, full exhaust, OEM interior basics such as dash and door skin etc according to BOTI and NHRA classifications) along with complete manual bodied auto, s475 Turbo, aluminum rod and some laughing gas with goals to break into the 8 all the while being able to DD the car without issue.
As over the top as it sounds, in reality, I just wanna have fun. But getting down to business, I'd like a Cam that would take full advantage of the setup which along with the buschur butterflied crank will allow the car to gobble up those rpms and really shine up top with the s475. At the same time I need to be able to drive the car around with ease. I know the Cam in my '73 Camaro is so extreme that driving it is a chore (the 2sp PG doesnt help) and it tries to stall regularly. As it sits the FP4r and Kelford 272s look like a great compromise with the FPs being my choice due to price and brand loyalty but I'd rather go as big as I can and still be able to maintain freeway speeds and retain streetability.
Thanks in advance.
I guess this means I'm saying goodbye to my FP3xs so if anyone is looking for a set or trade, PM me.
