Alright so I was looking around on some of the old forms past and present and I was trying to identify if I should be worried why this cap blew up so bad. Can anyone link me in the right direction so I can fix the problem before I put my chipped EPROM ecu in. If hate to fry my ecmlink chip. Here are some photos

We'll all look around some more on here. I mean nothing else on the board but that cap is fried I have an ecu from 92 that I can use. I just don't want to come to the conclusion that I fried another ecu and especially a EPROM with a 5 Hun bean chip in there

I can repair it that if it requires it for less than you would spend on an EPROM. However, you may want to try just cleaning the board up with acetone and a toothbrush (which will remove the conformal coating) and soldering new caps into it. Test it and see if it works.

There's likely nothing you should be concerned about as far as your car is concerned - the most common thing that the car will do to your ECU is fry one of the drivers, which is caused by a bad ISC. That can cause a ton of damage as well, though. That cap was just old and leaked out, causing electrical shorts. It's common.

That's awesome I might repair the ecu as a back up as long as it's not to far gone. The underside looks a little worse. All try my EPROM just need to get a base tune as I'm not running the same setup. Anyone have a ecmlink preload for just a stock tune?
