Whats up Guys, I am not new but i have though about buying a 2 g eclipse gsx and swaping in a Evo 4g63 motor in it with a Holtex Hx-35 or Hx-40 Turbo. My friend has a 2 G gsx thats currently out of commission. I like his car alot so i decided to go with the 2G instead of the 1G. now over time i have been thinking alot about what i want to do. with a project i had thoughs about buying an Evo still I am and I am looking at the sti as well each car has its own pros and cons obviously. I just want my car to be quick. now here's the question if i were to put the holtex .35 turbo on how much lag would i get compared to a stock turbo. Ive heard people had some pretty good sucess with this setup. i plan to do cams also. I might even just pull the motor and have the whole thing rebuilt with new pistons rods etc and a bigger cam. basically i want a 11 sec or faster car. would i be able to accomplish this with a cummins turbo? I would have looked into the 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel turbo but i heard it takes a while for that turbo to spool up in a 4g motor compared to a cummins turbo. If you guys have any suggestions feel free to post. whatever you like. I kno this is gonna be alot of money regardless of what route a take.

I hope that you are new, contrary to your post. Evo 4g63 is backwards yadda yadda won't fit yadda yadda. besides there's already a 4g63 in the gs-t or gs-x so why bother, stock turbo has almost no lage with the right mods should see full boost at 3.5 perhaps but seriously search. As for a cummins turbo? why bother when there are so many more tried and tested turbo's for the eclipse?

Hey, the best way is take a 2g gsx and drop a 6 bolt in. thats what i did and iam making 627 to the ground with a garrett GT35r and other mods of coruse.

There are plenty of guys on this forum who have been able to take their DSMs past the 11 second mark, and most of them have accomplished it without using turbos out of diesel trucks. The upside of working on a DSM rather than an STi or Evo is that parts are usually cheaper since they know we're all a bunch of cheapskates. If you want a good setup, look around this forum and see what the guys in your time/power range are using and dig in. Just take the time to do a good job and use good parts and you should be getting there pretty quick. :thumb:

i thought the hx turbos came stock on cummins ?? some one correct me if im wrong.

Im starting to do the six bolt swap and am exited to see how the car turns out. I would also choose this route if you plan on getting that 2G.:dsm:

Lol. Evo 4g63 swap. You'll be one of the many numerous who thought of it but if you succeed you'll be one of maybe two who has done it. We have 4 threads that have like a billion posts in each thread on Holset turbos alone. Do a search and read it up.
