Both pics are from a 97 Auto GSX.

First one is on the firewall on the passenger side right behind the EVAP can. It has many wires grounded to the bracket and it looks like it could be something for electrical interference.

Aight, second part. Also on passenger side up by the radiator. Now when I removed the engine, I noticed one of the two vac lines was being sliced up in the fan (dont know where that goes!) and the other connected to the intake behind the MAF. The other one looks like a relay. The electrical connections on both of them wire into the harness with all the other AT connections, so that leads me to believe both are for the AT (which is being swapped to a 5 sp.)

Any help is appreciated :thumb:

cant help too much on the first pic, possibly something to do with your ABS system, but dont quote me on that, LOL, but the second is your BCS(boost controller solenoid) it usually connects somewhere to the body just under the coolant resevoir

Right on, didnt even think of that.

Any ideas on that relay (or what looks like) next to it?

first one could be horn, but i always thought it was more front on drivers side?,who knows though cause when i had to get a new one they mounted it to a tab on mi IC LOL, and about that relay or w/e, it almost looks like a fuse block, have you tried to take it out or see if it opens?

I think the first one is a horn and BCS was my guess for the second.

Steve

What other horns are there besides the main horn in the front?

Tried opening, theres not really any opening to do. The connector just plugs into it, thats why I guessed a relay. Can any of your 2g MT guys check and see if you have it? Maybe its just for the AT and I can ditch it with the swap.

yea, i'll check in the mornin, cars locked up in garage and i'm comfortable in the house LOL but i'll def check tomorrow morn

The horn for the factory alarm is on the firewall. It changed locations through the years.

If in that first pic, those steel tubes are coming from that solenoid, it'd be your EGR but i can't tell because of the pic angle.

As for the second one, and in general. Close-ups arn't the best, take a close up of what your trying to identify and a general shot of the engine bay so we can try and trace those hoses coming from that connector.

Just another 2 cents

For some reason I always thought the thing in the first picture had something to do with the airbag system and crumple zones, but I could be (and probably am) wrong.

Yeh, the first one's the factory alarm horn. It's supposed to be hiding from thieves who'd just unplug it. Oddly, hidden 'way back up there, it's three times as loud as a turbo horn. Although the turbo horn is good for soothing lonely lambs.

The relay beside the boost control solenoid is the generator relay, all 2G's have it, you need it.

The generator relay is responsible for illuminating the charging system malfunction light when the alternator goes south.

Thanks

Thats what I needed to know. I was thinking it was relay for the auto tranny.

Heres a couple more pics that you guys requested, but I think the concensus by the wisemen is Factory Alarm horn, BCS, and a generator relay. Right on :rocks:
