Think I may have the best bad luck ever, with tech opinion wanted!

So my 1g was stolen a couple months ago, got it back and it ran like shit, IC pipe had blown off and crossmember was bent, finnaly got the time to work on it some and replaced the crossmember and went over all the IC pipes and all seems well but still running like shit. So today I threw a timing light on it and noticed that the exhaust cam mark was only about 2 degrees past center but the exhaust mark was probably a good 9 degrees or so off in the other direction.

So What I'm thinking is that it skipped a tooth for some reason, this seem like a reasonable assumption.

I know years back I screwed a timing job up and was off by a tooth and it did'nt damage anything but turbo spooled retarded fast but no power.

Well, you'll want to get your mechanical timing fixed if it's off and it would be good to do a boost leak test as well. Who knows what else happened if you ended up having an IC pipe off, bent cross member and the timing jumped.

If a police report was taken, you should find out what kind of damage pay you can get. The guy muffed it up and you should be able to take it to a garage to have it repaired. Maybe the thief would have to pay for the cost with his fines and all.

Worth a shot anyway.

He ditched the car, got out and wiped it down for prints with a towel and then took off running. Only description was a 5 foot tall mexican. Found lots of supplies for siphoning gas left in the car and a couple pills.
