2G thermostat question

hello, i just bought a 97 gsx its all stock besides downpipe, exhaust, and intake. I'm looking to do maintenance on it. I tired to look up info on what temp thermostat to go with i advance auto parts has 180 and one that is a 170 my brother says the lower the better. i also found the mishimoto one that says its at 155. I've tired to fine some info and people talk about closed loop. which one do i go with? Thanks

My personal opinion is the 170. Since the car is designed to be running at a certain temp.

The 170 will suit just fine. That's what I have in mine and I DD the car without any overheating issues etc.

If they make a failsafe in that temp range it is well worth the few extra bucks to get

I suggest going with an OEM thermostat from Mitsubishi. I've had problems with aftermarket ones where the temperature fluctuates.
