HOLY S**T Andy !!!! What on earth happened there man ??? I take it you are ok though eh? Man that really stinks. Have you come up with anything that could have caused this and wherer are you going from here man?

Sorry to see that happen to you :notgood:

I'm fine other than a little chapt as thats an expensive 4 minutes of track time. I hate missing out on track time due to a broken car.

Cause in unknown other than it was just its time. and no its not crankwalk! The car has had fresh oil prior to every track event (mobile 1). in fact i have changed oil on this car 5 times now, and have only put about 5k miles on it total since I have had it.

Yeah, I know what you mean on expensive 4 minutes of track time. It REALLY stinks to have that happen but unfortunately....it does from time to time. What are your plans from here? Fix it or another one?

I am currently looking for a good running 6 bolt engine that I can take apart, install some fresh bearings, new rings, all new oil and water pump, and all new timing components. I don't need an engine that can withstand 500hp, i need something that can withstand 5000-7500rpms for a half an hour at a time.

There you go man. Now thats my language you are speaking now :D:thumb:

Good Luck with it Andy.

That sucks andy. Good to hear its getting a fresh, reliable 6 bolt in it's place.

I won't tell. ;) Does it get any easier pulling out the engine as much as you have? Any tips on making the process faster and more efficient? I would love to do this, but dread the wiring/connections and tranny drop. :( I think I would rather drop the engine than use a picker IMO, but then I may have to deal with the oil pan.

I think its much easier pulling the trans and engine still together right up and out. From start to finish, i had the engine on the engine stand in 1.5 hours.

Thanks Dizmm!

I had a great track day, just wished both of our cars would have made it(weird how it worked out though). Just think with stupid camber plates, how well I could have taken turn 2...and 3..and 4...and 5.....damnit. Here are a couple more DSM's that were there.

Interesting wing on the lower 2 pics on that 2G. I have been toying with the idea of going with a much bigger wing on mine as well. That guy's there, has he or did he notice a big difference in down force in the rear when he went to that style of wing? I notice this must be his track car as well as I see the cage in it. I was going to get Greg's old one but he sold it before I could

I talked to the guy a bit during the day, but never brought up the wing, i just steered clear of that topic. I know it works at high speeds, but something I wouldn't do to my car unless I drastically needed to do it.

I am unsure of the wing and that entire car for that matter. Aerodynamics is something i have done little to no research in.

Aaron, I owe you huge, so if you have any troubles, please feel free to give me a call.

Thats kewl, I understand. I didnt really mean I was going with a wing that looks exactly like that one. But from time to time I do get alot of rear end play with hardly anything in the rear of the car other than the battery. I was just curious if that one was working for him.

Maybe something along these lines on Gregs old car. Nothing "too" drastic but something to put some downforce on the rear end of the car when I need it to.

First off, Andy sorry to hear about the trouble you had. I was looking forward to seeing another DSM in group 3 that day. I was in the process of "breaking" in a new 6 bolt I just put in this spring. So far so good!! Sorry I didn't come by to say hi. Monday went pretty well as I took second place in BM.

Regarding the wing, I know some guys wouldn't put that on their car, but then again those guys probably don't understand the importance of downforce on the rear of our cars and how that translates into stability through high speed corners. Once you experience the difference you can overlook the "ricey" impression that it may give. This wing was used for creating downforce, and definately not for style points.

After installing the wing I noticed an increase in rear tire temps and also a general increase in grip. I was having trouble previously getting the rears to heat up and scrub properly. I would highly recommend one if you are serious about getting the most grip possible.

Oh, and by the way...I was the one that who bought it off Greg:D
