Yes, you're new here. You'll learn that soon enough. Cars with higher cylinder pressure require use of gas with higher octane ratings otherwise the motor will blow up.

Cars like IS300, RSX, (new) Celica GT-S, etc. have high compression ratio something like 10.3:1 or higher and there for must use 91 or greater gas. Also cars that are supercharged have low compression, as low as 7.0:1 up to 9.2:1 but the superchargers already compress the air and therefore the cylinders compress the air further.

.....:coy: i did some research, .....i take it back:(....i believed the myth.

Tells you why premium costs more.

I read that, it said this, "Higher octane does not mean better quality and it will not result in more power, better performance, greater gas mileage or anything else."

Well, it does something. I couldn't pass emissions with the eclipse, 4th time I put 93 octane in and I passed, barely, but I did. I believe my Nitrous Oxides were .02 too high, and the 93 octane made it run cleaner.

Good to know i pay 3-4 extra bucks a tank for something.

Is this 90 tsi awd worth my time.............and money?

Here's what the owner has to say about it.................

"Up for sale is my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi all-wheel-drive turbo charged hatchback. I am the third owner of this car. Very clean outside and inside for a 17 year old car. Does have some visible rust being a Western PA car. Car idles VERY rough. Will need some work to get running solid. Could be boost leaks, bad sensors, etc. I need to sell this car to fund a new engine purchase for my 91 GSX. Car does not come with a battery or exhaust. Please feel free to email me with any questions. SERIOUS inquiries only. Don't waste my time or yours. "

That would really depend on what was wrong with it, and what repairs you are comfortable doing.

You really need much more info.

The rust is that bad? Do you know anything else of it?

I dont think its ever run right for him. Were not that close, but I have a friend who was going to get it from him here just to fix and flip it, but after the rust he backed away soo...Know what I mean. I did not personally see it. I have his aim if you want it...ask him for some pictures or the rust.

Rust is not easy to get rid of, its like a virus, you think its gone and then BAM it pops up under the paint. I would walk awak from it, $1400 is not worth a car that has both cosmetic and mechanical problems and comes incomplete (no exhaust, battery, interior peices missing). Edmunds and KBB would rate this car as Damaged or Poor. For Damaged/Poor Rating both Edmunds and KBB won't give a value to the car. At Fair (one above poor) KBB gives it $1230. And at Rough (one above damaged) Edmunds returns $333, Normally I take the average of the two (because KBB is a sellers rating and Edmunds is a buyers ratings AND it adjusts for regional vaule as well as color vaule). But with it missing some vital parts to get the car running and having rust I wouldn't give him more than $500. Otherwise, I'd walk away.

its been since 2004 since ive been paitently waiting for a dsm that is awd in my area and its now 2007 and im done waiting. its hard enough to find a decent 4g63 as well.

Im considering getting a 1995 Eclipse GS with about 100k miles, manual 5 speed, looks completely stock for $2500. good deal?

I just bought a 98 GSX with about 96000 miles on it, everything is stock except for the greddy type-s bov, and i got a sub and amp included. I also got another set of 18 inch racing hart s15 rims and tires. I paid 6000 so i just want to know if i got a good deal or not?

Ok. I got a car that I need a little help with. A friend of mine has the car. He's getting married and has another brand new car to pay for on top of all of the other expensis he's about to take on and he has a 96 gst that doesn't run. I'm not sure what all he's done to the car but I know that at one time it was making around 290 horsepower to the ground with dyno sheets. Well the clutch went out and stripped 3rd and 4th gear. He wants to sell me the car for 1500$ but I am kinda waery as to buy it. What would make the clutch die all of a sudden like that and take 3rd and 4th with it? Is it worth it to have the car towed to a tranny shop to be fixed then go and get it?

oh yea. the reason that it won't run is the clutch. It has no pressure so the car won't start. I know the motor ran good 2 days before this happend and I have a slight suspicion of Crankwalk. This is the main reason I'm asking.

So im looking at a 99 GST which is in Texas rite now.
I carfaxed the car and apparently it has been a Michigan car all its life but was sold at auction to this dealer in Texas.
Anywase I just need an opinion based on this pic, on how rusty the rest of the car is.
I live in Canada so I cant see it in person...
If any one would like to go look at it for me, please let me know !

It looks good, I dont see any rust spots around the motor mounts or on the shock towers. Thats where it get bad.

Ive found a DSM that I'd like to buy. Its a 1995 Eagle Talon AWD Tsi. The engine was just rebuild and now has about 1300 miles on it. The clutch has about 500 miles on it, a new Evo III Turbo was just put in, and many other small mods. The only problem is, he neglected the brakes, suspension, and body. The rear brake rotors are bright orange with rust and have started to corrode away, the previous owner decided to lower his suspension by heating up his springs and now the spring are almost fully collapsed, and the rocker panels have some pretty serious rust holes in them. Its a great engine, and runs prefect, but it looks like the engine is all this guy worried about at all. To even drive this car home (which is 4 hours away from me) I would need to completely replace the suspension and probably the rear break rotors.
He is asking $7,000 for it. I think its a little high and was going to ask him to take the price of the suspension and brakes out of the offer.
Just wondering opinions on this car.
