Guy in my area selling a 91 1g Plymouth Laser FWD with 110xxx miles for $650...here is the description...

Alright. Car ran great until the clutch was changed a couple weeks ago. After I had it changed, I started loosing gears until I had only 2nd. I had it taken in and it was redone and it worked fine, but the same thing happened again. I don't know what's wrong. I assume it's the transmission, but I've asked around and everyone seems to think it's a problem w/ the flywheel. I had it resurfaced by a friend and the clutch put in by him as well. Anyway, it runs has an oil leak and only has 2nd gear. $650. The turbo works great and it was very quick until this problem. If it doesn't sell w/in the next couple days it will be parted out. Thanks!

So how much money do you think I'll spend after fixing it? Is it a better idea just to pass on this car?

TIA!

offer him $500. if he takes it buy it. if not screw it. it sounds like a pretty easy fix. could be a number of simple things or a couple of major things. id do it.

my friend bought a FWD turbo laser with 55k miles for 600 bucks it had a broken cam in it. he bought a new head and he is into the car about 1000 total. pretty good deal.

it doesn't sound like it could be that bad. it sounds like whoever installed it didn't know what they hell they were doing. offer $600. then if for some reason it is EXTREMELY messed up you can part it out and get your money back plus a couple hundred more.

im a honda boy. meaning i know nothing about DSMs. the only thing i know is: A.) they are bad ass b.) they kick my ass. now with that said i found a 92-94 gs for sale. im not sure if its a 2.0 or 1.8. im checking on all that later today. since its not turbo is it even worth getting??? would it be possible to get it to run high 13's/low 14's?? or should i just wait till i can find a GSX/GST?

wait till u find awd one for the the 1/4 mile they are best!
it would cost you a lot of money to be in 14 high 13s with non turbo

Hell yes!!!!!!!

Why don't you like turbo????
The best car i know of if you wanna go all motor is CRX or maybe an integra. From what i've seen anyway

yes integra and crx are both good all motor cars, mainly because they are honda, but i can find any anywhere around here. i saw this DSM and thought it might be nice to have but i guess not. even if i could get it running 15's i would be happy but from what you guys have said its not gonna happen.

well my friend im a import racer. i will prolly never drive a domestic and NEVER a newer mustang. after 92 mustang went to hell.

alright, so i found a 90 eagle talon TSi AWD turbo, 104,000 miles on it, cd player and boost timer, and the dealers asking $3495. Worth it?

I have found plenty of 90/91 Awd's around my way for $1200-$2700. So that seems kinda high for a 90 to me. But it does have great miles for being a 90 and seems about right for purchasing from a dealer. Is it inspected and Warrantied??

PS
Does it have a Turbo Timer or Boost controller?? Never heard of boost timer

that price sounds just about right. One positive about buying it from the dealer, is they got you covered if the car turns out to be a LEMON...for a year or so, if i recall correctly.

If it is warrantied, you have to find a copy of the warranty, and see if modding the car will void the warranty.

JD

good luck

Sounds high too me also. I paid $2200 for mine, and it only had 66k on it. This was back last November.

yeah, it's a turbo timer...

i think it sounds a little bit high too, it's just that in my neck of the woods (kalispell, MT) these cars are really hard to find....and i want one soooo bad:( but, i'll test drive it and talk to the guy some more, and maybe get him down a bit. if not, i'll just hope for another one to come around...thanks for the help though guys, i'm new, but these forums seem awesome!:thumb:

dont even consider mustangs LOL, but if you did want to go all motor a four cylinder isnt the fastest way to go, yeah you can get a all motor 4 banger quick but i suggest gettin a v8. im not into v8's cause the handlin but i got a 94 gs and all its good for is drivin to work. i dont want to hate on non turbos but i suggest gettin a turbo
