Besides the compression test, if your not to familiar with these engines I would take a mechanic with me for the "once over". Don't get to excited or over ambitious to let him know that you want it if it is in good condition, throw a best offer at him if you do find the car to your liking.

Well this is what i got him down to. it was at 5k but i told him to keep a bunch of stuff and he brought it down to 3500. Can you tell me why not to get it? Oh it has 152k on it.....

tell him to f off and walk away. Not worth the money. 3500 is way to much. I got my 91 tsi with 180xxx miles for 700. You pay like 4500 for a 2g body style not a 1g. What performance stuff does it have to be asking that price.

That is a clean looking 1G, but 3500 is alot of money for a 1G. If the compression check comes back good try and talk him down to 3k or something. Its hard to find 1Gs that clean.

I know.... Thats why im reluctant to walk away... The car has no swirls in the paint and the only thing i can find wrong with the exterior is a scratch on the lip that the owner had to point out for me to see.

I got my car for 650, and then 50 towed to my house. Could'nt beat it, it was only a GS-T. but still... one of the FEW turbo cars in my town. try craigslist.com TONS of cars on their. Oh, and im doing an engine rebuild, i got a donor block, crank, pistons, rods, and empty head for $100.

i went and looked at that 1gen. eclipse again and it is a GS turbo. is that the same thing as a GS-T? what are the differences? again, it has 174000 miles, dings and dents and needs new tires, timing belt, and a new drivers side fender. faded paint. interior is pretty thrashed as well.how muchis a fair price? the guy wants 1200 for it.haha

i have a 2002 gsxr 600 that im thinking of trading a guy from turlock who has a 1997 gst with 94k miles. its charcoal grey with white leather seats. im not feeling the seats but im sure i can trade them or just get some new ones. the car is completly bone stock except for the black headlight housing and m3 mirrors i think. you guys think its worth it. i not worried about loosing the bike because i'll just get another one later on. i need a car now! i dont have a pic of the car yet but heres a pic of my bike.

Lately I've been searching for a tuner car to buy. Well I found one and will most likely be purchasing it on friday. Here are the specs

1999 Eclipse GS (10th Anniversary)
Fully Loaded
GST RIMS
B&M Short Shifter
47,000 Miles

I'm going to buy it for $7,500.00

Obviously the low miles is what attracts me and the fact that the car has been kept in close to excellent condition. So what do you guys think is it worth the $7,500?

If all you want is a slow reliable daily driver, that be a awesome buy. If your planning on modding it buy a turbo. Theres a alot of turbo models cheaper then that.

yeah, what do you want from a dsm? i've had both a 420a and a 4g63 and i can tell you that the 4g63 is a lot easier to work with speed wise. the 420a is a dang good motor, but i reccomend a gst or gsx at that price. i got my 97 rs for 4k. to me, that $7500 is not good at all.

but not a 2g GSX, and definitely not with 47k miles on it. If you wait, you will always find something better. You can also weigh your choices and research the hell out of DSMs (or whatever car you choose) just like any car enthusiast should. Dont jump into things...especially non-turbo things.

That is way overpriced I bought and sold a 2nd gen 1995 gsx for 5500. The n/t second gen's sell around here for no more than 4000 anniversary edition or not.

yeah but with how many miles? All the ones I find are always 100+ miles. I plan on moddin this car but not going to any extreme. Just intake/header/exhaust and maybe some few odds and ends. I don't plan on ever dropping a turbo in this thing. Its just going to be a daily driver.

I found a local 93' 3kgt vr4 for sale. The car has about 171k miles. The guy says it won't start because the clutch is burnt and needs to be replaced. There is also some minor body damage. Now my question is, if I bought the car and replaced the clutch, would it run, or would there be some other "hidden" problems the guy didn't tell me. For $2500, I think it's a pretty good deal. What should I look for when I go to check out the car? Thanks.

Wont start because the clutch is bad? I dont know about all that. For that price you might find out the engine is bad. I would ask if you can take it to a shop and have them look it over.

That's pretty cheap but I doubt a clutch would be the reason for the car not starting. But, if I were to get it I'd be sure I'd be looking at a new/rebuilt engine and tranny.

Yeah that's what I plan on doing, but I agree with everone else, i've never heard of a car not starting because of a bad clutch.
