Well, I'm taking the car as of this friday for the said price of $5800, or technical $5300 out of my pocket. Here's the specs...

97 TSI, awd, 5sp, 117k miles, Black w/grey cloth, gunmetal rims, all powers, brand new EvoIII 16G turbo at 108,000 miles, Injen intake, XS Power FMIC, 1G BOV, Swaybar(aftermarket I assume?), lowering springs, short throw, Exedy Stage 1 clutch, boost guage, 2.75in custom catback, ported exhaust manifold, ported o2 housing, new alternator, new belts(timing belts hopefully)

I was trying to attach pics, but it won't work except for the interior pic and I'm not sure how to resize them, anyone feel like helping me out?:D

Lets be honest, no one mods their car to baby it.

 Believe what you want. The previous owner will attest to it. I've owned it for over a year and have yet to launch it or even powershift it. Boost is set conservatively. It has seen redline maybe 5 times since I owned it.

I'm not saying it's in mint condition. All I'm saying is it was babied. Why can't you baby a modified car? I don't get it. Maybe our definition of babied is different? Let's say religously maintained. How's that?

The question still stands-- how much would something like it go for, roughly?

So right now i have a '91 accord *BLAHH* but there's a 1999 eclipse GS with 95000 miles near my house. The guy wants 3500 for it...but im gonna try to work out a trade... when i look at it... what should i look for to be bad, or wrong with it??

Ok..as some of you may know, I'm looking for a 1G dsm. Not gonna get that 16 year olds cause you guys talked some sense into me. I came across this one though and emailed the guy about it.

Its a 1990 GSX...he wants $1000 for it. He said its inspected till next October, has new tires and is lowered 2 inches. He said it leaks a little oil but thinks it just needs a new oil pan gasket. He also said the car started leaking quite a bit of coolant the other day. He said its coming from a spot behind the turbo, and a spot under the radiator, but its not the radiator. So I don't know if thats a serious problem or not. Has a couple minor surface rust spots, but nothing to bad. Here are some pictues of it. I know the interior is quite a bit on the ugly side with it painted blue, but whatever...can always buy new pieces, and the drift bumper would have to go to. Anyways fill me in on what you guys think. I sent him an email a bit ago asking when the last time the timing belt was changed, if the tranny grinded or slipped etc...anyways...pics...

If I were you I would have him bring the car by a mechanic to have them look at the leaks and tell you how much it will cost to fix it. Other than that if it checks out it's not a bad deal. Also, if he doesn't want to bring it by a mechanic it's because he knows somethings seriously wrong with it.

Good point...Ill ask him that...I have about a $1600 budget so I can afford to make SOME repairs if necessary.

EDIT: This is the response that I just got back from him...

As far as I know the engine was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago, so the
timing belt was done then. I don't have any problems with the tranny, it
shifts kinda hard into 2nd but, from my understanding that's normal for
these cars. It does have a racing clutch in it so that grabs quite nice. I
have the stock rear bumper but the reverse lights were cut out of it, so
it'll still mount up it just needs those put back in. The rust is very
minor. It doesn't look bad to me it's not rotted through. I really don't
know about the coolant lines. I'm pretty sure the coolant line to the turbo
needs replaced. as far as the one going into the bottom of the radiator it
looks new to me. One of my friends told me he thinks it might me the
thermostat or its seal.

750 for it.

Make sure he has documented proof that the motor was rebuilt, or at least ask what was rebuilt on it. Also a carfax on a 16 year old car might turn up something you should know. You really should check the coolant lines your self. Where is the car in location to you? Can you go look at it before you sign the papers.

One more thing, wheels...

The car is in New Hampshire...right next to me...I was THINKING of going to check it out on Saturday. But yeah...Ill get the VIN and run a car fax.

Wheels.....I know...WTF

Definately get records of the motor rebuild and take it to a mechanic to get the timing belt checked, compression and basic maintenance things. Check the suspension and drivetrain as well.

OK check it out, what do you think? Should I get this for my next project car? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/249181643.html These cold winter days with no track racing has me going stir-crazy. Now I'm dreaming up new ways to mutilate perfectly good cars in the name of speed. :D I think it has a 3 bolt rear end, just needs a turbo motor, maybe a 2.4? I would leave the exterior alone and keep the stock suspension. Would this be totally nuts or what? :sneaky:

So I came across a 98 GSX Black Gray leather 25000 miles.Inside doesn't get cleaner. Basically my dream car. Was once fully built still has built trans. However, the timing belt broke and put a hole in number 1 cylinder and he parted HKS cams out, camgears, intake manifold, turbo setup, downpipe, and turbo manifold and IC and piping. I know its going to run me a few thousand to buy all that stuff to make it run. He's selling car with blown 1 cylinder and all that stuff missing for 5500. What would you do? Just need some opinions.
:thumb: :notgood:

Too much, if you buy it and fix it you'll have alot of money in it when you could go out and buy one thats already running and in good condition, also these types of threads are suppose to be in the hangout.

Okay. I'm planning on upgrading the turbo and intercooler and stuff already . I'm aware I'll have to buy cams and all that crap. But I can always have it all built right away than starting stock . Idk though .

Okay . I see where your saying it is way too expensive, but it also has a built trans and the whole car has only 25000 on it. What do you think it's worth?:dsm:

i'd go a couple grand. i got a pristine gsx for 5200 out the door, and was able to drive it home. so what if it has a built trans? that's not enough to justify asking what the guy is imo.

hey guys, there is a 1g eclipse(its either a GST or a GSX and im not sure what year, i think a 91) at some corner dealer in my town. He wants 1000 for it. i would buy this for a project.. the paint is faded, there are random dents and dings all over the car. it has 174,000 miles on it. it needs new tires and a new timing belt. it has been sitting there for a while now. is 1000 a fair price or what would you consider a fair price? i was thinking more like 500, but im new in this whole dsm thing.-thanks guys, any suggestion would help.

depending on what it is is how much a fair price there are 2 ways to tell a 1ga gst froma gsx a gsx will have a tsi front bumper and a gst will have the n/t bumper with the black colored trim on it. and when you go look at it look under it for a rear easiest way to tell. for a gst 500 is a good price but id offer him 650 for a gsx 800 is a good price i wouldnt go any higher then that
