almost $10,000 is way too much ... and for 91,000 miles ....

i got my 98 GSX 136,000 miles a year ago for only $5000... great condition, stock too...

I brought my 95 gsx for only 900.00 but it had a bad turbo and I drove a little ways to get it. I would look lot more but don't give up. You will find one and maybe even better

WOW! You bastard.... I feel pretty bad now. I would have loved to pick mine up for a deal and a half like you did. Then again, I got ripped off hardcore. I'm still glad I bought it, though. It's paid for now and it'll be badass when I'm done. Nice to see another DSMer in wisconsin on here.

And to the original poster. Do yourself a big favor and don't rush into buying the first GSX you come across. TRUST ME...and well...everyone else who is telling you; Unless it is THE CLEANEST car around, keep looking! I guarantee you'll find one cheaper than that. I'm telling you this because, even though..as I stated above..that I'm still happy I bought mine, I sometimes wish I would have waited longer to buy one. Maybe, by now, my car would actually be on the road.

I am a brand new member, and I am considering buying a DSM. I am buying it from a friend and I wanted to make sure I'm getting a good deal. The car is a 1991 Plymouth Laser RS with 50K original miles. The exterior is in great condition. The engine looks great, and there are no apparent problems at this point. Car just passed emissions without any tweaks. He is willing to sell me the car for 2000 bucks. Is this a good deal?

Well if it's a turbo, that's a great deal and I would snag it in a heartbeat, even if it's a non turbo its still a good deal for only having 50k miles on it and would make a great daily driver. Lasers are getting pretty hard to find these days. Can you post any pics?

Yeah it has a turbo, but I'm not sure which engine it has. I heard there were two different ones offered. I will definitely put some pics up here eventually. I am currently trying to sell my current car (91 MR2) because of various problems. Then I will hopefully buy the laser.

Turboed DSM's all have the 4G63T power plant. Sight unseen that sounds like a good deal. Do yourself a favor and check it out real good.

Sounds like a average deal. I see them go for that in my area fairly common. They have more then 50K on them though. Just do a good check on everything. If you want it get it

That is an excellent deal if the car has no problems and really does have 50k original miles on it!! I would buy it if nothing was wrong with the car!! Would love to see some pics.

Anyone know who's car is this?

From you guys point of view does it have good mods on it?

Can it be a daily driver? ( 30 miles a day)

Now the big question is how much the car os worth? Is it worth $5500?

If this is going to be your first DSM, if you can't hang, don't complain.. you've been warned they require extra care than your previous turbo cars.. unless they happen to have been RX7s

I'm biased to 2gs because they look better bring the hate 1g guys, and for 5k I could find a nice STOCK 2g gsx.

But that car looks clean and nicely modded. I've seen it already on craigs. He's using some reputable parts.

i know it need extra attention. It is a 20 years old car. I don't drive hard at all.

What would go wrong first with the setup he has? The tranny or the motor?

I read that you can upgrade your tranny internals for around $1200

With his setup running 18-19 psi and making 300awhp, How long will the motor last if treated right?


ALso, How much is it for the 120k Tune up for this car?

see the car is nice and worth the money, but i always believed in built not bought. especially in a built dsm because u need to know about these cars, cant really just jump into a built on not knowing about them.

True words. Make sure you take a good hard look at the car. Inside and out. You could get lucky and end up with a bargain. Or, you could end up like me cleaning up the previous owners mistakes. I mean c'mon...... duct tape instead of silicone couplers?
