Just cause it says tsi on back back dont mean anything, the bumper could have been replaced.

I dont think you should mess with the paint. Its "custom" just like mine ;)

Haha so was mine, but now it's even more custom

You'd be surprised what 20 hours and some paint can do to a car.

woa, i almost threw up here at that engine pic. what is up with that intake? u need a throttle body elbow aswell. does it at least have the side mount intercooler on it? i have that stock upper pipe. ill sell u cheap i dont need it. i have a stock side mount cheap too.

I would say good deal. Just make sure that after you get the pipes, do ALL maintenance related items......cough timing belt cough...........

Hello, the only reason I signed up for dsmtuners(currently) is to ask some questions, and who better to ask? So I'm thinking of selling my 91 s10 for a 91 talon TSi awd, i have NEVER EVER heard a good thing about these cars, but im looking for some easily modifiable and faster then my turd. So heres what im looking at. and keep in mind i know NOTHING of these so good honest answers will lead to buying this possible heap or getting rid of my reliable but slow s10 ill be selling for 1500, keep that in mind with the cost of the talon he says he only wants 600 for it cause thats how much he got it for.

(i cant post the link becuase its locked to guests on my local forums)

this is the sale
*************************************
Ok giving this a chance to sell before I take it for the motor, tranny, and rear end.

1991 talon
AWD
148298 miles
5 Speed
pretty sure its a 4 bolt rear
Salvage Title

Ok a little about the car. I bought it from a guy in joplin and he bought it from a guy in cali. He said all the car needed was to get a new ecu and fix the driver side fender (which is the reason for the salvage title. So I got it home and the car turns over but wont start (ecu) and then i noticed the guy cut the wires to the cam angle sensor and wired it back up, but all looks fine. There is a bent wheel on the back but everything looks good in the back end. I already took out the passenger side seat and the back seat but have all interior for the car still. The fender out the outside is a good fender but the inner fender is all jacked up. The motor is a newer motor along with the turbo and tranny. No shaft play with the turbo and might need a new time belt tensioner.

DSM's are reliable!
You just have to maintain them really really well.
This car looks like a bit of a piece, but it's really cheap, and it would be a fun little restore car :)
Buy a Chiltons or Haines DSM manual and read up.

Cheap, Reliable, Fast

Pick 2.

im really interested in it, its just the dsm forums say go for it, the others say done :cry:

WELL, from what I can see the car needs A LOT of attention. First, determine what you want to do with it. From what you have told us it seems like it is going to be your everday driver or it will end up sitting in the garage more than half the year. See there is so much you are going to have to do to get it going not to mention you need interior unless you plan on leaving it like so. I would try to get it to a mechanic or someone who knows DSM's so maybe the can tell you whats really wrong with it and then you could weigh out your options and think about what you wanna do... Until then have fun!!! I do, oh and BTW if you decide to pass make sure you find another GSX or TSI AWD.. dont settle for less you will thank me later :thumb:

it has the full interior he just pulled it for some reason, and do you mean just find a parts car?

Being 100% truthful these cars are very reliable as long as you keep the mods to a low,And keep up with your car,You wont find a car out there that is fun as driving a awd turbo dsm,The only reason people say these cars are not reliable is cause ev1 mods these cars to the max,But tell me what car your going to mod out to push high amounts of hp and not have problems with,These cars are built for the stock turbo application,If you kept that stock turbo and set up you have a reliable car,But soon as you starts high modifications your going to run into some snags but that's with any car when you get into the internals and start changing the stock applications,But unlike other cars you have dsmtuners with people all over that will basically fix and put your car together for you as long as you have hands to work, eyes to see,Brains to learn,And money to spend on the things you need.

:thumb:

They are notorious for breaking down mostly because they are notorious for having people spend more in go fast goodies than maintenance.

I'd be all over that for $600.

I also think you could find a lot cleaner 1g for $1500-$2000. You could get a real nice one. These cars are very reliable. Even with high modifications. They get bad names because people abuse them. Main reasons they have bad names.

Tranny/Clutch failure due too abuse from AWD launching, too much power for stock clutch, incorrectly installed tranny parts

Timing belt failure can happen when they are not serviced, overheating and oil leaks can weaken them.

Crank walk happens to a real low percentage of 4g63's and is really not a huge issue, a lot of fixes have been found also.

Blown motors due to horrible tunes, overboosting, lean conditions. People just turn up boost to 20psi on stock tune, fuel system and think it should be fine.

If you have a good tune, with minimal knock, reasonable cylinder pressures and keep up on fluids your car will last forever. There is a guy running almost 9's on a stock shortblock with an fp hta88, with over 600 track runs. Motor is still running.

Heres the thing, are you good with cars? Can you work on them fix them, both mechanical and electrical. If you have no knowledge of how a car works i would pass on this car until a better one pops up. This would be a good car but you will have to know how to fix it. The forums can only take you so far, some previous knowledge is required.

I agree with JFatch. These cars are pretty reliable. It's just like every other car, if you treat them right and keep up with maintenance, your not going to have a problem. My car has 186k and it has been very reliable.BTW Jfatch, I think that was the most mechanically incorrect sentence I've ever seen.Haha.Chill out with the commas.

:pI know i have a habit of doing that when im typing cause my old job
I need English rehabilitation from them making be retarded ROFL

But definitely make your decision based on what you want and think your able to do and will be happy with.

If you had the time you could for sure part that thing out for $600 and make some cash. If you are looking for a DD I would wait and save some more change to find a 1g a little more put together and that does not have outlines of a dirt track car number on the door.

who every said somthing about the throtle body on the tsi i bought you were right it was the wrong one but i got the right one and all the stuff i needed
