I would do the same thing with that high of a payment. It looks well taken care of, and a good price for everything done to it.

+1 It's a hell of a deal, I would honestly jump on it before someone else does.

nice! thanks guys I thought that you would see! ok I'm going to take the trip from nj to md.

If you had that STI paid off, id ask for a trade, that DSM and Supra(if it was in good shap) for the STI. That is a real nice GST/X. Lots of work done to it plus the fresh motor and all labor was done in a shop by pros. I say go for it also. It's up to you in the end.

Pshh a supra and another car for an sti? I don't know about that. I think I've seen that one before. It was a red gst converted gsx but don't know if it was the same guy. But remember when you get it you should do all basic maint. before modding again just so you know everything is in good running condition. This might including things like:

Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Wires
Timing Belt
Oil Change
Oil Filter
Check Tires
Run some seafoam through it if it doesn't have high mileage.

Are you ready to inherit a car with that many mods and potential problems? Especially since you've had no background with DSMs prior?

I hope so! I understand a turbo charged engine and have worked on my car sti and previous car which was a gs-r a lot... I hope that it has no major issues but I will deal with them if it comes to that point.

Car looks good, but if it were me I would just get a stock GSX and just build it to your liking. There's no telling what some of these people with all these mods on their cars have done to it.

yeah I'm tryin to get a car I will not have to spend $10000 on to make fast... If the engine goes that would be crappy but I would build another.

I didnt notice the price either. But at 6000 with that much work its worth it! and since you already own a turbo car, you know the extra attention its gonna need.

i'm currently looking at purchasing a 1995 eclipse gsx awd with a 93 cyclone engine swap. the guy says it was running great until he ran into a problem with the ignition coils. upon testing them i found out they were fine so he now thinks it may be an injection problem.

also looking around the back of the engine and around the intake, i noticed unconnected wires. majority of them looked like sensors. also a few vacuum lines were missing off the intake.

the car started up and ran but ran rough. seemed to misfire some what.

i could steal this for $1500 but my question is would it be worth it? what kind of problems could i potentially face or what should i look into more?

upon reading just about every 2g-1g swap threads i noticed people saying replace the intake with a stock. also buying cam sensor harness to run on the 2g ECU.

anyone have any ideas/advice to what i'm getting myself into?

Yes if it's a wiring problem, and you don't know anything about wiring it's gonna cost you some money to get it checked out...But if it is just the aletrnator, you can get a brand new one that puts out more voltage if your going to run alot of accesories, like a system, lights stuff like that...

Ya it wont be to expensive to replace the alternator and the battery. But to find the wiring problem will probably cost the most since the problem needs to be located then fixed.

If it was up to me I would wait and find a stock dsm because with the mods that the car has on it right now, there is a bigger posibility of it being abused in the past (raced). just my 2 cents......

171k on the stock engine seems kind of high. Granted it has new pistons and rings, the crank, bearings etc still have the original mileage on them so I would keep that in mind. Overall looks like a very clean car though. Not a bad price either.

Alternators aren't hard to change, it would probably be best to replace the battery anyway before winter so to me that seems far enough. I'd check the crank pulley for play before even making an offer on it though. If its got excessive play I'd either lowball the guy and see if he'll take it or pass on it.

Granted it has new pistons and rings
Now, aint that kinda odd that a motor had a piston and ring job done, yet you think while the rods were out, to do the bearings since the thing was torn down anywhos?

I bet the previous owner knows something about this motor, yet aint fessing up to the whole truth on what is really going on, or what would really happen.

Definitely some motor issues with this one which would be costly down the road.

I'd walk away from this one. Gonna rob your wallet and savings blind.
