You would have better luck in person. Money waving in front of people has a strange sort of mystic power.

I agree.

Plus, I would never make an offer over the phone without looking at the car in person, test driving it, and doing a compression test. There may be more wrong than they know or than they want to tell you.

Yeah i'd definatly buy it..But talk him down 900 is too much when it needs work like that..Ohh and on the automatic, they can definatly keep up with you five speed guys. Press the power button and put your foot all the way down and tell me your not impressed. I own a 92 auto, and she moves just as well as my buddys with stick dsm's...

well basically should i have any reason its not the turbo and instead be the piston rings ?

If it is the rings you mise well build a bit. since you have to rip it apart any way...Fast Track Auto Services has a deal right now that comes with rods, pistons, bearings and some other stuff I cant think of right now for $800..It's a hell of a deal.

Ok thanks guys, if i told him to take out all the stereo stuff, how much should i say to knock off?

well im dont really want to get into another big project im asking what everybody's opion of the problem is just buy the noise of the turbo sounding like a supercharger whats symptoms of bad rings

nevermind, im really considering buying the grey one... i think it will definitely be more reliable. What do you guys think of the looks?

I think it looks stock, but good. You can always make changes later. That first one has a few parts thrown in here and there, I would rather have nothing extra. I would be worried about the parts that guy may have added that are not so visible...

It seems to me that a compression test is in order here. That will tell you more about the condition of the motor. If you didn't want a project though, you might not want to jump into this one... It sounds like it will need a few things.

Ya... well while i have a few peoples attention, what do the headlight covers look like on these cars? or what headlights fit this car? I think that is where i would start on the exterior. What about you guys?

I agree about the compression test. I would take it if you can get them to 500 and as long as the compression checks out.

I don't know alot about the 2G exterior stuff, but I tend to work on the inside first myself. I would get a boost gauge and exhaust first, and work it from there personally. I like the look of the NA 2G talon though, with the wing and front fascia. I think its the 2Gb Talon? Maybe the other guys know more about this.

Not sure what you mean by covers. There are blacked out covers you can get to fit over your headlights, but I wouldn't suggest it. If you are referring to the headlights themselves, then you can search ebay for headlights to see which ones you prefer. Remember to search for the 1995-1996 style and not the 1997-1999 style due to the size difference.

Why not worry about all of this after you get the car? Then do some more research and if you don't find what you're looking for, start a new thread with a title that matches the content. Trying to make a thread of more than a single topic usually doesn't work out too well, especially if people have the same question in the future and it's buried in a thread about something completely different.

My personnal belief is after you check out the car and drive it, if you feel you are still measuring the "risk", then it's not worth it.

Hey Guys I own an 04 STI w/380 whp right now but I'm going to sell it for something more reasonable price wise...
I know a decent amount about cars and turbo engines but I wanted to know what you guys thought about this car...

I tried clicking on the link, but cant view due to not being a member. Why are you selling a STI with 380whp? Just curious.

OK just checked it out, looks like a killer deal. Surprised that someone who went through the trouble converting from GST to GSX would sell it afterwards though.
