I honestly think that's too much money to spend on the car, even if the MAF wasn't malfunctioning. I see 2G GST/GSX or TSI/TSI_AWD all over every day for less than $2800 so I would recommend you look a little more and you will find something a little cheaper.

I dont usually see cheap DSMs on CL or anywhere especially all stock... kbb is 3500, so i think i would talk him down to that. Hopefully my friend will agree to me using his MAF.. . It cant hurt anything can it?

Does look very clean and I like that it's almost all stock. He's missing the cam gear cover as well as a positive battery terminal cover, both of which are cheap but needed.

Plus, '95's have the good possibility of having EPROM ECU's!

I was just talking to the guy about me bringin the MAF to test it... and he said thats fine just make sure the numbers back. I told him it was off a 98 GSX, and he told me it was different and that the mechanic told him it needed to be a 95 or 96.

The maf sensors are all the same for 2g's. It doesnt matter what year. 95-99. Anyone will work. And 4200 is alot for having a problem with it. Talk him down.

A 2g MAS is a 2g MAS.

Yes. The mechanic might have been confusing the MAS with the ecu, in which they are different. But as snowborder714 pointed out "a 2G MAS is a 2G MAS"

what is a reasonable price to talk him down to?

I'd say no more than $3000. If you don't want the stereo stuff, get him to take it out and lower the price.

Tires are in just ok condition. It sat for 8 months and he probably didn't even change the fluids.

So ive came across another dsm of course its a 1g automatic awd 91 with 100k body is in 7/10 interior is 9/10 leather. So heres the scoop on it i was driving through a Richy neighborhood and i come across the talon i knock of the door because it had no plates on it so I Asked if they were interested in selling it they said ya blah blah telling me how they dumped 2500$ into it if not more because they brought it to mr good wrench and these people clearly knew nothing about cars. any who i popped the hood and bone stock and im looking at the head and its brand new. And fired her up started up good but began to smoke like a fire so automatically i knew it was burning oil the owner said they replaced the turbo and had receipts for it $$$ but looking at the turbo from the outside looks like it came from the junk yard waste gate looks like it fell off the titanic so i take it for a test drive and i look behind me and the road is covered in smoke the turbo sounds like a supercharger it doesnt boost correctly its smoking like crazy so i drive it back wondering if its the piston rings or the turbo..... im guessing the turbo due to the supercharger sound of it ..... was wondering if i could get some second options also he wants 900 for the car

I would tell him that the motor needs rebuilding and offer him 500. Get it back and replace the turbo and have fun . If your into the whole auto tranny and all.

IMHO that Talon in Bend looks much nicer to me. Less molested if you will.... That shifter knob in the Talon from the OP is the same I use in my truck z, it reminds me of a truck shifter in a car. I bet its weird shifting.

Damn $4200 (sorry I didnt click on the link) their are 2 in my area that are selling for 3g's and they dont have any real problems like that. Definetly talk him down.
