i really doubt that this car was well maintained. i may be wrong, but i think it was previously owned by two teenage boys.

so.....

my guess is that it was raced and beaten, only slightly maintained.

the guy selling it now said that he did all of the engine work. so....who knows...

with that said.

is it worth....say....$1200?

or should i wait until i find a good deal on a 96 or 97 gsx with lower miles?
this really depends on your preference...looks or performance. the 1g seem to be built a little more beefier motors than the 2g's ( thrust bearing, rods, etc..) look up 6bolt, or 7bolt in the search field, you should be able to find ample info.

well i like the look of this ride.

and

i really want this car b/c 4 years ago i had a mint 92 laser rs awd and i loved it, but b/c of an electrical problem that i couldnt find the cause of i had to let it go. i've missed the car ever since.

just the thought of buying a car with such high miles scares me.

so...i don't know.

If you are unsure on the car, do not rush into. You will eventually always run into a better deal on a DSM or find one in much better shape. It took me several years of looking for a mint AWD but I finally found one, and I'm glad I didn't buy any of the average DSMs and held out for this one. Nothing is better than driving around in a mint AWD.

I have a 92 eagle talon tsi awd with lsd. It has 156,000 miles on it. Has an oil leak that i might have fixed soon. Its coming from the turbo return line which i bought the part and have but haven't put it on yet. The body is in ok condition for its age. No rust, it was a southern car. Clear coat is cracking in spots and there is a small dent in the rear bumper. Interior is tan leather, the drivers seat is pretty rough. Looking to let it go for $1,000...

im looking into buying it. what do u guys think...what should I look for????

yeah i know what you are saying, but mint 1g's are getting more rare by the day.

this one may hold me over till i find "The One"

but i don't know...

i figure if i can get if for 1500, then its not a bad deal.

but i shouldn't be worrying so much about this when i havent even test driven it yet.

it could be a POS. we will see.

by the way, i currently own a mint 1992 BMW 318i.

and that car is great but i miss the turbo so much...and winter is also around the corner, so the AWD would be a big improvement over the RWD Bmw.

here are some pics...however I did just find out its an automatic which I think blows...

Ok so I'm in need of a car, my friend Denozzo got a '95 TSi AWD this summer and since then has been bugging me to get one so we can be called "The DSM Boys" :barf:

Last Friday (10-17) I turned 18 and I'm in need of a car, so I looked up some cheap-o's in the local paper. I found a '90 F-150 V8 with 52K miles for $1200, but it was sold. I then found a 87 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with "high miles" for $1500 but it was also sold.

So my question is, should I try and find a cheap DSM ($2,000 or less.....yeah right) in good condition or just find something cheap and in good (or decent) shape?

DSM does not = Cheap

Age 18 and looking for a cheap DSM sounds like you are setting your self up for a world of pain. A DSM should be a project with a cheapie car for reliable DD transportation. I use my Jeep for my reliable DD and my DSM is in the garage on jack stands.

d

Haha, that's why I put "$2,000 or less....yeah right" in the post.

Also there is a 2GA/B TSi in my town nearby, but it doesn't have a "For Sale" tag on it, and it's an Auto.

Should I say to him "I'm looking for a car almost exactly like yours, but I don't know how much one would cost. Hypothetically, how much would you sell yours for if you were to sell it?"

"DSM boys".... LOL :tease:. Thats not the reason you should want one.

I would consider the 2nd car a better buy if it is real. Take into consideration all the work that was done to the car, and look it over IN PERSON to make sure everything is functioning correctly, and your not buying someone’s broken basket case.

As for the first car, there is no listing for mileage. Also it has seat covers so make sure you check the seat bolsters to see the condition.

If you go to see either, take the time to look the car over and drive it till you are 100% satisfied with what your buying.

both cars look good it really depends on what your skills are, budget is,and plans for the car would be. What do you think you would eventually like to do with the car? is it gonna be a daily driver or are u planning on racing it and upgrading alot of parts? all depends on your plans.

You need to do full check over on each vehicle and see which one is in better condition. Test drive them both and get on the throttle and take some turns hard too.

I prefer 1Gs over 2Gs, but its all upto you. Dont get one because it has stuff done to it already, I learned that the hard way. My first DSM didnt even make it to my house:notgood: Just make sure which ever one you choose that YOU like it.

I would personally lean more towards the 95. Mostly for the fact it looks untouched, so there will be less likely a chance of buying someones problem, as stated above.

Just drive both and see what makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside :)

Ya at first i was thinking about the 95 but this one caught my eye, im just skeptical maybe of the mods hes done to it. But it sounds like he has a fairly new motor and if im not mistake its a 2g motor as well. What does this mean for future upgrades, would i buy able to fit 2g parts on it? Also, my plans are for a fast daily driver. So maybe the 94 with FMIC and gauges might save me some money. PLus it has rims

If i were you I'd get the 2g, It hasn't been modded so it most likely hasn't been beated on. Both are really good deals, ask the both owners what has been replaced and go by that. But that 1g more than likely has been beated on or neglected before which is what caused the engine to go out so early.

well the 1g is def a good buy its got mods already and you are less likely to get crank walk
if you are willing to do the 6 bolt conversion in the 95 then i would say that one would be better the 1g might have been raced and beat on if it has mods
if u just want a quick daily driver id go with the 1g
if you wanna do some mods like maybe a 6 bolt conversion then the 2g is for you
personally i would go for the 2g so u can do what you want to the car not what someone else has done
