Dang.... mixed as hell reviews. Well i dont plan on ever doing an engine conversion on the 2g. I would probably do some basic mods to it, not much more than the 1g has. What parts would i be able to buy for the 1g? 2g or 1g parts since it has the upgraded motor? and which one is faster? dont they both have the same type of engines?
 
well as far as your situation and what u wanna do i would say the 1g seems pretty good as long as its not someones headache that they are trying to get rid of. and the mods are done right id go for that 1
 
Damn... well one is 10 mins away and one is 4 hours away... Judging by the pictures is the 1G way faster than the 2g?
 
The 1g is sexy, have him show receipts for the motor swap or assume it hasn't been done though. Even still its a good deal if its the original motor providing it runs perfectly. Personally I would go for the 1g but it may have issues, like every has said look over it real well. I've had 2 95's crankwalk on me now so idk if I would ever buy another one with the original motor but I have the worst luck.
 
Yeah id def go for the 1g myself too. But like said before ask for receipts for the mods especially the "JDM" engine which isn't really special, it just has the vr-4 intake mani. They lie about the low mileage too, so watch out. The 2g has a nicer body thats why i went for it but im turning towards a 1g now. If you go for the 2g its got high mileage but if it hasn't been modded(judging by pics) and has been maintained by previous owners jump on it. Good luck
 
The 2g has had its cams replaced last year, and she said the clutch doesnt feel right (she has to double clutch or something). The door handle is broken on the drivers side as well.
 
Bro, I have never heard of cams having to be replaced because of wear down. Now if the timing belt snapped and the head had to be rebuilt then that sounds more believable. Clutch job on an AWD is pricy if you don't do it yourself. The '94 just keeps looking better and better.
 
Same as the USDM if it is stock. With all of the mods that the '94 has your looking at a max of about...ooops that would be bench racing so I will leave it at the afore mentioned statement, same as a stock USDM about 195HP. Get it tuned up and enjoy.
 
So would this car compete well with a 2g that has a full 3.5" exhaust,Intake,and an aftermarket BOV?
 
I contacted the owner of the 1g heres the list of mods on the car... japanese engine swap (the red top), front mount intercooler, hi flow fuel pump, lowered 1.5" with springs, brembo slotted/drilled front brakes, volt/boost/air fuel gauges, BOV, DSMLink, rear upper spoiler, oil cooler, manual boost controller, 17" giovanni rims. Then he said the car has a fixed panel but not repainted or buffed on the rear drivers quarter panel. He said it has a clean title and that he will test drive it for me this weekend and it will be ready for me to test drive on Monday. Any thoughts?
 
A "fixed" panel, means the car has been wrecked. Do you really want to risk buying a car that has been modded pretty decently (and an engine swap) and has a possibility of being wrecked, or worse, totaled? Sounds like your going to be buying someone else's headaches. And GIOVANNI rims on a DSM WTF. I'd go for the 2g. It looks clean, seems to be in decent shape. Try to set up a test drive on that one!
 
He says he has all the receipts for his mods, including the FMIC all work was done at a local shop including tuning, disincluding the gauges and such. THe old engine blew because it was over boosted and threw a rod. He says the new engine has not seen a race.
 
You guys talk about the headaches i might be buying... if i did a compression test and test drove it wouldnt i be able to tell if he was trying to get rid of something bad?
 
Well yes, but make sure and bring someone else with you when you go. Have them check the color of the smoke, just in case of a bad turbo. Also the alignment of the car. You will be off to a very good start by visually checking it over, driving it, and a compression test. That would clear up alot of questions we are all throwing at you. Goodluck ;)
 
i have had at least 15 2nd gen gst's and gsx's, and have had marinably luck with the reliability of them. nothing serious,but yet minor headaches.
i have spotted a 92 talon awd 5 speed near home for 900.00 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now you know there is always a catch................................
1, the guy tells me that it doesnt go into first. don't know why. it drives fine through all other gears. need tranny rebuild??????
2, the car overheated at one time, they had the head shaved (so he said), and new head gasket was installed. but when i looked under the hood, the radiator hose is off...... do u think theres still a problem? (i do)
3, guy says that it drives fine , but when you hold the car floored,it starts to overheat.if you dont beat it, it never does............do u think this could be the catalytic converter?
the exterior is a 8 1/2 out of a ten, and the exterior is got to be at least a 9 out of ten with not a single mod done to the car.



im looking to buy one to modify to about 400 whp, so i may have to rebuild motor anyway to acheive this............................
is this a good base to begin for the money? please give any and all advice

over heat could be anything from the radiator cap to the water pump. Does this car still have the stock fans?(you want it to)
 
Alright I have been wanting to get get another eclipse for a while now. My eclipse just has too much work that needs to be done to it.. My 95 GSX is a bit rough. 117,000 on the body. The paint job is a Maaco half ass Turqouise/blue job done by the previous owner. The door jams were not painted, under the hood is still the stock forest green color, and last the trunk jam is also the oem color. The interior leaked bad when I first bought it. (The sunroof) There is a mildew/cat piss smell (from the leak i'm assuming) that I could NEVER get out. The carpet has stains, the front two seats need to be reupholstered and the timing belt job needs to be done. I'm pretty sure the head gasket is starting leak. I would have to put a little coolant in every month or so. It needs a new battery and the headlights are fogged over.

My mods on the car are:
3" turbo back exhaust
3" Gm sensor MAf-t setup
Greddy BOV (Blow through)
Dejon Upper Inner cooler pipes
DSM Link
Rims
body kit (this was done by previous owner)
Triple Pillar pod w/ EGT, Boost And oil pressure Gauges.
