That actually doesn't sound to bad... I already have the 3" TP by the way, just waiitng for the DP.. Thanks for the response and idea, Erick

just wonderin...i'm thinking about gettin a 95 gsx...its already has turbo..its a 5 speed...wondering how much you guys spend at the gas station

Yeah, I'd say finish your exhaust and get yourself an EGT gauge and A-FPR for tuning. Then start saving up for your FMIC. Make sure you've hacked your MAS correctly, as I've been able to keep from hitting fuel cut on my 14b clear up to 18-19psi.

Ok thats what I'm going to do: finish up my 3" exhaust, and EGT guage, and get the TMO ECU mod. As far as my MAF I'm not sure if its hacked correctly: I removed the entire lower section thats pretty much it, I want to do the 10K resistor mod (I posted asking about it) but go no response.. Is that what you meant by "correctly hacking the MAF"? Thanks again, Erick

There you go. $200 for the DP and up to $300 for the TMO. That alone will be awesome since it will remove your fuel cut and give you some nice features, as well as completing the exhaust. Then, $150 for an EGT gauge and if you want $150 for an adjustable FP regulator. Get your fuel adjusted all nicey-nice and use the EGT along with your pocketlogger and AFC to tuner her up. That leaves you $200 left over for whatever you want.

18 bucks 90% of a full tank of premium, thats my car though, stock might be a little difrent, i get like 300 to a tank

Hey i'm planning on getting a 90-94 talon TSi (or GSX), and i've have a budget around 10grand. I want a good handeling car but still a fast straight line car. Here's the deal, i know i can buy many more mods if i get cheap ones, but what are the horsepower differences. Also, i want to do a turbo upgrade since stock turbos generally dont last long, but do upgraded turbos just bolt right in where the stock ones used to be (okay dumb question i know but all my expirence comes from hondas and such where you have to buy a totally new manifold and stuff.)? I live in the panhandel of florida so if anyone is in the area drop me a line.

Thanks guys
Luke

If you did a little bit more reading and used the some of the resources this site has to offer you would be able to answer a lot of the questions you just asked. As it sits right now your post is hopelessly vague and its almost impossible to give you the “right” information with out asking you a thousand questions.

Please review the tuning guide and search functions for this topic.

It has been discussed several times in the past.

Hey Luke, I see that this is your first post. Don't be upset that it's been locked. We're just making sure that others see that the question you just asked has been answered in our Tuning Guide:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/

Read through those pages and I'm sure you'll be happy with all the info that's been put together. We also recommend that you read through and post most of your initial questions in the Newbie forum.

okay, i bought my 1992 laser rs turbo awd, stock everything, with 82k miles on it for $2700. i bought it cuz i couldnt afford the new subaru impreza wrx at the time, which was what i really wanted. my intentions were to keep it until i got enough money to buy the new wrx, but this car started growing on me (especially after i did the mccc thing and the mas mods). Then i had a question.
i am willing to spend 10k pretty soon, but what is the best way to spend it, performance-wise? can it be best spent modding this car, or is there another platform that is better or cheaper (i know this is a dsm site, and i am not looking for a platform war)? btw, i would need to give this car a new paint job and rims, so that will cut into the funds.

performance-wise=
1/4 mile avg (i know its mostly about the driver)
suspension/cornering
braking
durability

it seems that these cars arent the best for cornering, but im sure i will have some money left for modding the suspension. guess ill have to get used to the understeer-oversteer thing that i encounter with my awd.
oh yeah, im not looking into getting nos. ive heard that cuts into the durability issue.
fire away.

so, youre saying that this platform is the cheapest for the most amount of gain (or the best performing for 10k)? how about the conquest tsi? or an older camaro or mustang?

Are you sure you want to throw 10K into a car? That's a lot of money that could be used elsewhere...Anyways, a DSM is one of the best platforms to build on import wise, there are a lot of Domestic options as well. It all comes down to if you really like your Laser and want to build it. You can run 11's if not faster for less than 10K into the Laser (depending on how much you actually throw into performance, how much you spend on new/used parts, and if you can save money by doing the labor by yourself) :dsm:

For $2-3K you could have a car running into 12 second quarter miles if you follow the recipe that has been in place for while now.
I am not sure if you have taken a 12 second car for a drive, but it will take care of most problems you run into around town. After stage one is done, I think you will know where you want to drop your $7k left over. Whether it be suspension or some motor work.
I have always been one to make sure the car can handle the power with braking and suspension work. At some point you have to stop or turn.

Personally i think you could get it running mid/low 11's for about 4g's!
Then after that figure 1g for paint.
I would say about 1g for a very good suspension setup (mounts and all)
Upgraded brake system with some nice lightweight rims say: 1500?

So total thats 7500 to have one of the cleanest rides that runs 11's right?
Then you could do les say 1g on audio, 200-300 on alarm...

Then i would call it a day but if u goto get it painted decide f you wanan "kit" the car or not (bodykit...)

best way to spend ten grand? how bout a 2g non-turbo painted lime green with blue eagle graphics down the side, a huge bookshelf wing on the back, a carbon fiber hood with a big ModernImage sticker on it and two huge chrome NAWSSSS bottles in the back. then you run around screaming at your HALTEC programable computer that your laptop is hooked up to, loose a race against a red RX7 and have the driver tell you "not a bad way to spend ten grand!"

alright i have bout 300 to spend right now...duno what to get next really... guys gimme some things i could possibly buy....

mods:
Buschur UIC pipe
2G TBE
Custom 3" intake pipe
K&N filter
free mods
greddy type s bov
ngk plugs & wires
Custom 3" turbo back w/ cat
30-0-30 boost gauge
stock 13g turbo 5cm turbine housing

:thumb: :dsm: :thumb:

I would buy a 14b turbo for $100-150 and a manifold from a 1g 5speed $50 ,boost controller $20 and some 1g 5speed injectors for $60.Buy a carbide burr to port the turbo for $ 10.C
