Glad to hear good things about underdrive pulleys, it just doesn't seem like many people are running them with the exception of the underdrive crank pulley.

Yeah, and probably quite easily. As I have said before, and others have as well, you should strongly think about what you're gonna do with the engine (because 1g's aren't for show!), and research what it is that you need.Originally posted by BigDgs-t
Hell yeah you can put a 1st gen in the 11's with $5k...

If it was awd then yes it's possible if you spend right. A fwd is a different story. 5k will surely make a dsm very fast though.
i've given up trying to get good ET's... i just shoot for trap speeds now! (my only mods are a 3" turbo back exhaust with hi flow cat, MBC @ 16psi, and free mods... so less than 1k spent so far) more to come as soon as i get my slicks... they're on their way now!!!!!!!
those timeslips are in my car, but it's cold outside and i don't feel like going all the way out there. my favorite of those was a 17.8@102mph... i rolled backwards off the staging light, sorta hesitated for a minute, and just said F-it and went. it redlighted me and started timing me when i rolled back appearantly. funny thing is, i STILL beat the civic Si i was racing to the traps, and i had a 5.6 60 foot
fwds usually will trap higher than an awd with the same mods... and yes, running in 100 degree weather will slow your times just a BIT. do you ahve an upgraded intercooler or the stocker? i don't think the stock IC will be very efficient at 20psi, hell, it isn't even very efficient at 15-16psi, also which might explain lower traps.
i think i got one helluva strong engine for my 1400 bucks!i'm sorry, but i think you are a moron for wanting to drop 11g's into a 1st gen t/e/l. i love dsm's as much as the next guy, but the car itself isn't worth more than about 3 grand.

i'm not being a hypocrite. i think spending 11k on a 12 year old car is a waste of money. that is about 3-4 times what the car is actually worth! i'm sorry, but that just isn't a wise decision. sure, i've spent about 4k on my car (including the price of the car AND a jdm engine when mine blew) but i could turn around and sell it for about 4k, so nothing is really lost. if you go and drop 11k into a car, show me one person who is willing to buy a 1st gen DSM for over 10 grand...
If you do the jdm motor, since it can handle more boost, I'd say go for the 18g.
