Got the word from the Mitsubishi dealer today that the ills of my car are cause by a bad clutch. "Needs complete clutch kit to repair" is what the service statement reads. I was quoted $820 for everything (labor too). But that was with a stock clutch that they had to order and it wouldn't make it in until the week-end (Todays Tuesday). I told them since I could still drive it that I would get an aftermarket and get back with them. Here lies the dilema. I have a 2G GSX with 104,000 miles on it get on it once and a while. I have dragged it once but that is all I needed. Daily driver. K & N Filter other than that she is stock. What clutch should I get? I have read and heard some that the ACT 2100 is the deal and it runs about $325. On the other hand Quoted from extreme motorsports. "the Clutch Masters HDSB2500 is the best overall, because it applies less pressure to the thrust bearing, thus decreasing the chance of crank walk." This is $400. I got a 2G, not a crankwalker and basically stock. Which do I get?
Want to keep the price reasonable. Also anything else I need? I know the two come with throwout bearings but anything else that the dealer wouldn't have?
Let me know of your clutch upgrades.
