Almost forgot, best thing would be to get on a dyno to see where you start losing power in 3rd gear, I have known lots of people who shift at 6.5K on that turbo and get better times than holding it to 7-7.5K.

Ummm ok LOL. Man you shouldn't post while in a altered state of mind. Your post wasn't the one that i questioned I just reiterated that I said before that I hadn't seen any pure water & nitrous setups out there. I have heard of people doing what your brother does and think it works well from the numbers those setups seem to put up. It's the suspension mods that I doubt being able to decrease times not water nitrous or any variation of mixtures.

Okay now since im sober LOL. anyways using nitrious plus alky injection lowers the coolant temps so low that you wouldnt even need to put that fmic on. the combo has been working so well for him that he hasnt even thought about buying one. i dunno how he does it but he sees 24psi daily on a stock side mount and alky injection with like only 2 degrees of timing pulled on his dsm link at 8k.

Ok I am not disputing the benefit or suspension parts but like you said the original poster asked for suggestions but on how to go from 12's to 11's. Do you believe that suspension work would take him from 12's to 11's and do it the most cost effective way for this guy cause just by lookin at his mods he isn't rolin in cash just like the rest of us.

:talon: I am not arguing either, its just that so many people are worried about "running 10's when they havent even run 12's yet", and any DSMer running in the 11/10's, they will tell you that suspension is a key factor in having a strong 11 sec car, but yeah, he did say he is trying to get from 12 to 11, so yeah, he could just practice, and that will get him there. He is open for suggestions....

yea dont replace the pistons unless there is something wrong with them, i mean unless you know your gonna be boostin like a rocket, and if so youd actually might wana stay lower compression and not higher if your trying to seriously boost. And also forged is a lot better ( i thought 1st gen were forged???? iduno ) but yea, your stock internals should do fine like everyone else said, id get rims if i were you, besides you want to go bigger once you start gettin mad power ### wheel spin will make you slow off the line like also said above. If i change my pistons im getting mines cryo treated... if you dont know about that then its hard to explain, but basically its a process that makes the metal like 5times as durable by realigning the molicaules in the steel... yea long story but good luck

I'm pondering the same thing, my car does actually need a rebuild as two of the cylinder are low but am not gonna do it for another 3 years or so when i'm done with college, I'm also wondering if i should go with race internals instead of stock, is it really that much more expensive? like ARP, Eagle Rods, Wiseco Pistons, and some stock stuff, idk I want to keep my car for a long time anyways I will just store it and buy a daily driver when I'm older. Right now i'm just focusing on maintaince keeping the car looking good and might do some suspension stuff but yea,

what is a good setup when rebuilding your motor?

I would spend the money on engine parts...17's dont look very good on a car that doesnt run.

Dont forget that a car that runs good doesnt get around very well with shot tires. I guess I am assuming that he is just due for replacement tires not upgrading?

Personally, I'm a fan of the 'do it while it's convenient' school of thought. I'd go for the forged pistons and rods while the engine is already apart, as it'll become a pain in the ass later if you decide you want to go with them.

Then again, forged internals is more of a safety measure for most DSMers, like ARP headstuds. It's one less thing to worry about. You don't really NEED it unless you're going for huge numbers.

If it was my own car, I'd go with the forged internals, a knife-edged/rebalanced crank, a metal headgasket, ARP studs. Get the head and block decked, and you SHOULD never have to worry about taking the head off again, unless you're doing valve work, jump timing, or have your t-belt break.

You'll need studs and an upgraded HG before pistons. 4G63 pistons/rods are pretty tough just as long as you don't go too lean. They can also handle more than most of us on this board will ever see (with the right tuning that is...)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get your opinion on something real quick, I recently sold all my misc. car parts in my garage I have gathered of the past couple of years, and made about 400 bucks from all of it, not to shabby.

So my question to you all is what would you spend the 400 on, heres what I have and will be putting on in the next two weeks. Also the car is an auto.

**Currently installed on the car:
Stock t-25
Complete upper and lower intercooler piping
Greddy Type S bov
Dejon Tool MBC
"ebay special" aluminum intake pipe w/ k&N filter
2.5" Exhaust (including downpipe)
Boost gauge (obviously)
Hi-flow Cat

**Ready to install on car:
New Ported 2g manifold
T-28

So after the install of the turbo and manfold, what would you all do next? I almost postive that 100 of it will be going to a fuel pump, but that leaves 300. Should I go with a data logger? Or is there something you guys would recommend? Thanks for the help. :dsm:

In my opinion ( which some people may disagree ) save up for DSM link :)

*Edit*
Plus you already rocken 95 GSX Eprom so your in good shape :D

I agree with saving for the DSMLink. No reason to get injectors if you can't tune them some how, IMO.

I just recently found out that my parents will be giving me a graduation present (pretty sweet). My mom told me she was going to get an ipod and have it be a surprise but she tought it would be better if she would ask me first. Good thing, because I'd rather put that money to better use and buy something for my car. My mods are in my profile, I was just wondering what you guys would do if you were in my situation. I'm really not sure even what direction I want to go in...suspension, engine, apperance etc. Just curious what you guys would do.

You could probably get a 14b. Or just use the 300$ and save for a E16g plus injectors. Plus you should pick up a pocketlogger.

Well, if it were me I would do a performance upgrade and thank goodness we have a tech guide in here. http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=2gtupgrades
I mean, it's ultimately up to you, I just hardly ever spend money on stuff that isn't performance based, but I don't know what your goals with the car are.

So with all that said and done, I'd suggest: a logging package, higher flow fuel pump and then rewire it. $300 should be plenty for all of that and then give you a little bit to spare, because you will need it, anybody who owns a DSM does.

^What he said. Put it in the bank. If you're lucky it will be saving for that Evo 16G, if you're unlucky it will cover the next thing that decides to break while you're saving for the Evo 16G.ROFL

You're in PA also, I have ALOT of parts for sale if you want to stop by any time. They're all basically brand new, And listed in my profile/classifieds ad. I was going to sell my new turbo set up/fmic/ecu/injectors/ etc for $1800 and my buddies stock stuff, But maybe you'd be interested in some parts.

Congratulations on graduating! i graduated this year too! 06!! LOL
If youve already done ## basic maintenance get either a 14b or save up for a E316g.
