Sell your shell, take that money plus your $15,000.00 and buy one already done.No wait, way more fun.Look in the tuner classified. There was a 98 or 99 GSX on ebay with over 600hp and almost 30k in it .He ended selling it for $17,000.00 about a week ago.

Wow, just wow. Wish I had 15k to spend on a engine. Good god it would over 600hp. It would be a 2.4L 4g64 block w/ a gt42R.

Oh, and there is nothing wrong w/ SBR's engine's, I don't know why you disagree.

Hello to everone. I have run into a large cash flow and befor I regreat spending it I want to make sure I get what I want and that it is for the best. My mods are all in my profile but to add to it I was thinking...

#1 AMS turbo kit (50trim) or (super60)??? $2000.00
Comes with turbo--SS 02housing----Tial wastegate-----3' ss downpipe-----lines and gaskets.
#2 Aermotive FPR kit from Import Evolution with gauge $260.00
#3 Fp intake pipe $130.00
#4 GM maft kit from SBR $400.00
#5 Ecu+ for tuning $550.00
last is a shep trans stage 2 comes with lsd $2000.00

I dont know which bov to go with or should I stay with my 1g bov.

If you think you can spend $5500.00 Better than that let me know your thoughts (given what mods I already have)..

Thanks AJ

EDIT
Well I am going with the AMS turbo kit still comes with everthing I need and its not a bad way to start. I will just beat the hell out of the turbo till it dies and then just go with something diffrent when the time comes. Everthing else I am buying as well except the gm maft kit. I ended up buying a 3" maft on e-bay for 50.00. I am also going with the tial BOV and a water injection kit and a in car wideband gauge- egt gauge. With just enough money to get it all tuned. Which is were my next question is were should I get it tuned at. Ams I have heard good and bad and there is GRD and I dont really want to take my car to them cause they screwed me twice as it is they are why I have a 2100 not a 2600 ACT clutch. I havent heard of any other place (ideas welcome again) Anyway thank you all for chiping in your thoughts slicks-suspension and- etc is still yet to come (next year) I think my wife is going to kill me as it is for spending all this as it is.
Thanks Again AJ

Edit Again I decided to go with the SBR 57trim and there manifold with a 38mm tial wastegat useing stock Cut o2 housing instead of the AMS kit. Saves me 800.00Bucks.JUst thought I would add this post with pic once it's installed.

Well you can use a little bit of that money and buy my Stage 3 Buschur motor DSM, take the Viscous lsd, act 2600, walbro 255, turbo xs dsbc and part out the rest ;)

If it were me and I had a decent chunk of cash to play with I'd probably ditch the safc and get dsmlink and a wideband... pick up a decent laptop if you don't already have one. Play around with that a bit and then figure out what else to order. But that's just what I'd do.

...or sell the car, take what you have now and what you'll get after the sale and buy something that's not a dsm. :p ...sorry, I'm currently mad at my dsm.

I was thinking about the dsmlink but by the time I get a ecu and send it in to get programmed I might as well get the ECU PLUS. I just started reading on this and thinking of ditching the AFC and gm maft that I was going to buy the ECU PLUS and a cheap laptop off ebay. Does anyone have the AMS turbo kit and have any reviews on it. I tried finding other places with the same items and I dont think I can get it any cheaper. Well thanks to you that posted any one else got a idea or 2.

Aj

Personally, if I had a 2Gb FWD and I ran into some money, I'd sell it in favor of a 2Gb AWD. Otherwise, I second buying a built motor from the reputable DSM shop of your choice. ;)

Im not trying to sound like a d#$k but why do you guys keep trying to sell me or tell me to buy a built motor. I ALREADY HAVE ONE. Check my mod profile its up to date. As for the bov Tial was something that I was looking at but I am no longer going with the Gm Maft cant afford it if I buy the ecu plus. So I was thinking about the hks bov and recirculating it but I cant seem to find the recuc kit for that Bov anyone know where to find it. Thanks again to all that have posted.
AJ

Lets not turn this into a sell your FWD and get AWD thread. I like a challenge not drop the clutch and go.

Keep in mind that if you go with the ECU +, you only need the GM MAF itself, you don't need the MAF Translator since ECU + has built-in conversion for the 3" and 3.5" MAFs. All you need to add is a 3" GM MAF, couplers and clamps for the blow-through setup. Then you can just get the Tial and forget the HKS recirc kit!

No problem, I'll PM you with my PayPal address.... remember to add 2% over what you really want to give me for PayPal fees, thanks!

As for the GM MAF's, they can be had for $30 on Ebay or even better sometimes are GM car forums, like LS1Tech and similar. Since everyone there is selling their stock MAF because they've upgraded, they are fairly low value there being just a "stock part". Also, I have seen silicone boost hose reducers for $10 on some sites. If you go with ECU+ that means the total cost for a GM MAF setup is around $50-$70, not a huge chunk.

the straight line specialties intake pipe is just like the fp, and is 3" for a good bit less money

I did not think about not needing the translator thanks for pointing that out . Not only do I get the tial bov which I first wanted I found a 3.5 gm maft for 55 shipped on ebay just a minute ago which is what I will save not going with fp intake pipe. Thanks again for all the posts. Any ideas on the turbo kit what you think of the kit or maybe a cheaper route. I was thinking about just going internal which then I would buy the AGP Rs49t which would save me over a thousand for other parts. I have heard good things about the internal wastegate on those turbos. I hate dicissions that is why I asked for your help.

Well, if thats the case then you want to go with a bigger turbo then a 50-trim.

FWD has a distinct disadvantage. Two drive wheels (One if you have no LSD insert).

But FWD also has a distinct advantage, the BACK DOOR!!!:rocks:

Since you wont be hooking up anytime soon off the line, getting a "Quick" spooling turbo is a waste of time/money.

I would suggest at the least a 60-1 compressor on some type of 7cm2, or 8cm2 hot-side.
If a fast spooling turbo has no top end, then a big slower-spooling turbo will offer tons of top end, plus the right amount of lag to get you out of the hole, and on your way.

If you are going for a Garret turbo "Kit" then a t3 hotside is a waste. At least a small t3 hot side is.

You want lots of exhaust flow pretty much.

So based on your mods I would say:

-LSD for trans (Slowboy sells for $125, install throught the passenger side)

-Large turbo (60-1) or better

-bigger inj (Unless 400WHP is plenty for you)

-Whatever management you were going for. (EMS or DSMlink IMHO) ECU PLUS looks good, but its just another piggy-back. DSMlink is the definitive programmable ECU.

-Sticky tires

-1g BOV is fine

-MAFT is pretty good if your trying to make real power, but DSMlink will have a translator in its program version soon. Something to think about

-You do realize that when you post a thread like this, your gunna have some amateurs listing off a bunch of wack parts that dont work together, due to their lack of experience.
So make your desicions in a educated matter. Don't just take peoples word for it.

Good luck!

Wow that's almost twice what Forced Performance wants for it. Just buy it direct as that's a total rip off price.

The AMS price probably includes the welded on recirculation pipe, and both couplers. FP sells just the intake pipe for 60.00 then you have to add the other stuff. Mine ended up around 130.00 by the time I got the rec. pipe and couplers/clamps etc. It is still a great deal for the biggest intake pipe you can get.:thumb:

SLS's pipe does not come with the couplers needed to make it a bolton affair. They send a straight 3" to 3" coupler for both ends and we all know the 2g maf is not 3". Then they won't respond to emails yada yada...go with the FP IMHO. Also dsmlink is the way to go unless you can really tune or really want to learn how to with the ems.
