Well right now I am getting 750's. The MAF/T may still be in the equation, maybe not. I am down to around 750 now, and still waiting on several auctions to end, one of which is a ACT 2600, and I still have tires to buy. will probly buy in pairs to make it easier and try to fit some more go fast stuff in now while the motor is coming out.

SO just an update on parts ordered already...

SAFC2
AFPR
Wal 255
Fittings to run external regulator and -6 S/S braid fuel lines
Full exhaust
8" Jhonny racer FMIC

Data Logger
Fuel pressure guage
White face guages
Aluminum guage overlay

Stuff I am bidding on...

ACT2600
750 Injectors
3" MAF

Stuff that will be ordered tomarrow

T3 manifold
Some extra bends for the wastegate just to be sure I have enough
2 Tires 225/55/15 Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's
2.5" hard pipe stuff
Some more fittings for turbo oil lines, gonna change from oil pump feed to head feed.
Some wastegate mounting flanges
EGT
Guage/safc mounting pods

Man, when I decide to hit it I hit it hard huh?... :D :thumb: :talon:

I ran precision 780s on a safc. Although precision rates their injectors at a higher fuel pressure they still flowed as 750s at least the way I had them in. My safc was at -49 and -50 on the high settings so that's the largest you can get unless you have some sort of injector compensation programmed into your ecu. Of course every car is different though.

Coming in the mail the 5th and installed the 7th are the following:
K&J air filter
High flow cat 2 1/2"
Apexi N1 muffler 2 1/2" inlet
ebay 2 1/2" downpipe
Manual boost controller
Aftermarket boost gauge

I'm getting the 2 1/2" piping to the back at the muffler shop as well.

I have $1000 saved up to spend on mods to my car. I read the tech guide but I don't think I can buy ALL of it so what would you guys suggest getting first? piping that will fit stock turbo cuz that's what I'm sticking w/until later. The things I know I'm going to get for sure is an aftermarket BOV, some interior modding like glo pedals, indi-glo dial gauges, and a carbon fiber bezel but other then that I'd get a/m cold air intake, upper ic pipe...... right

whoops, missed the FPR in your list.... still id look into some inline filters

I hope you'd regret getting "indiglo pedals/gauges/bezels," once you start modding the car, you will hopefully catch the mod bug ;)

1g bov + hard UICP (dejontool, etc.) = $175
pocketlogger software/link and palm m100 off eBay = $175

Great start for ya.. I'm super tired and feel like quitting there, but look into a new clutch (act 2100) and maybe start some fuel mods like a rewired 190 pump. I'm also assuming you've done all the maintanance on the car too.. otherwise you'll just be a slightly modded car broken down on the side of the road :thumb:

why not go with some cams if you have the extra money. you can pick up a set of fp2's for like 470 bucks. not to say they are holding you back because some people have gone fast with stock cams, but i think it'd be a hella nice upgrade with your parts list

Ok, I am now down to about 6-700, and remember I do have 2 auctions I am actually worried about the 750 RC injector and the 2600. Plus I need to get at least 2 tires...

SO I think I will have to make due with what I got now, though I might have a reice job coming at me in the next few days, 8-5 M-F $12 Hr +bonus' so I will work on what I got now and go from there...

How bout a reprogrammed ecu? If your worried about not bein able to tune those 750's with an afc then a keydiver chip would probably do you good. And its only 115 :D

Yeah your timing is going to be sky high compensating for the 750's with the safc. Good chance the '90 has an EPROM ECU. Check it out. I just ordered a keydiver chip for 650's, makes tuning possible. www.dsmchips.com has some referrences to directions to removing the ECU and checking to see if it is an EPROM unit. Mark

eh #### the cams. He lives in IL like me and we have to go to emissions. It's a pita to install / uninstall the cams every 2 years and they aren't NEEEDED. ( although nice to have ) Hell I'm running stock 1g cams with my setup and looking for mid/high 11s on pump. ( very confident it will do it as it sits right now )

Thats the exact reason i suggested it. I just ordered mine from dsmchips a couple days ago. Having the ecu know how much fuel is really being put out is alot better than lying to it to make it put out what you want. I had a hell of a time tryin to get my 650's tuned with just a maft. So i said hell with it and ordered a keydiver chip for 115. If i had problems with my 650's i can only imagine what itll be like with 750's.

No I do not have emissions...
I live in the armpit farmland of the USA...

plain n simple,i wanna run 12's. i know im a newbie but i have a set-up planned out but don't know if it'll put me in the 12's:either 16g or 20g,johnnyracecar fmic,electronic dump,hks 272's,injen intake,act 2600 w/fidanza flywheel,hks ssqv bov,safc,660's,fpr,joep mbc.will that make me his 12's?thnx for the help

c16 racegas, alot of driving skill and you can do it. :thumb:

You got the mods list down, just start with the most expensive stuff first, then work your way down the list. Give it some time, patience, and hard work and you can do it.....

If you dont have tools, invest in a nice 200-300 dollar Craftsman tool set along with a good floor jack, jack stands, etc.,

You are planning on doing all the mods yourself right? If not, make sure you have a friend with some common knowledge of how to work on cars help you out, I don't know where you are at on that level...so Best of luck in this Dept.

BTW make sure you have a datalogger and do not be afraid to break anything...thats the first step to modding your car ;)

Good luck, and congratulations on the find :thumb: :thumb: GVR-4

if you run any 16g 272 cams might be little on the big side. i think 264 at the most and get all the gauges and electronics first then get the rest. it would suck messing up the high mileage motor when all you need to do was hold back because your motor was running X-amounts of boost at X-amounts of EGT's

A post with a point.... good start.

So you wanna run 12's or better.
Ok a few questions for you...
do you want to stay Mitsu type turbo, or step to a full garret?

That will choose your turbo for you.
That will also go a long way in choosing your injectors for you. Though I would say start with 750's They will go along way down the road of upgrades.

Parts your gonna get reguardless...
Clutch
Exhaust (cat back)
Injectors (read above)
SAFC2, or equivilent for the injectors
boost guage
EGT guage
Oil Pressure guage
Wide band
some form of data logger
some brake upgrades

But the down pipe and exhaust manifold depend on the turbo you shoose.

The intake may not be "required" at this time, there are plenty of guys going 12's on the stocker. I would reserve some cash for parts that "might" break.

Im just wondering, are the stock brakes on the VR-4 bad enough to warrant replacement for 12's? Maybe I missed something, but I thought that they were the same as 1g awd brakes.

Yes they should be the same... but I have a general rule...
If I spend say 1K on things to go faster, I spend 300 on things to help slow me down.

Having a quick car is nice, but not being able to stop is far worse.

I got $1000 to spend, what should i buy? (I will go with used parts so i can buy more)
my current mods are
Hallman ES boost controller
Greddy type s bov
Megan 3" Cat Back
3" downpipe
no cat
K&N Air cone with injen intake
Greddy upper and lower ic pipes
Greddy Turbo timer
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
AR boost gauge
A/F gauge
Should i buy big 16g with 02 housing and ported mani or safc with injectors?
Dont flame me for being noob. :)

If your current turbo is fine, I'd do the rest of the supporting mods before upgrading to a 16g. You should easily be able to get a fmic, injectors, and safc for 1000. Check out extremepsi.com. Right now they have a good deal with injectors/safc.

Although, if you are impulsive like I am, you could run decent boost with a 16g on your current setup, and do the rest later. :thumb:

my t25 sounds like supercharger over 7psi and it makes some blue smoke, so you think 16g would be fine for the next step? I am also hitting fuelcut after 12psi.
