Get a 1G AWD, it will re-ignite your DSM passion. Or spend it all on your daughter, like you're supposed to.

You guys missunderstood me, 1) my daughter is all ready spoiled by me :D 2) I would spend on her 1st.....3) The carbon fiber hood and hatch might come to about 1300.00 total...so the rest would be spent on my daughter....Prob go into the money fun account I have set up for when she turns 18 I already have a lil over 10k in there

O an I already have some rims I need to update my gallery some time

Definately different then :D

If your passion for DSMs is gone and you still want to stay into it, i'd say buy a cheap one and start from scratch again, definately a 4g63 this time though. Maybe a 2gb 6 bolt with a 4 bolt rear?

Why would I spend money on a woman when I can beat myself silly for free ;)

The more days that go by, I agree more and more with that sentiment.

How about a cheap beater so you can really enjoy ur car by taking out on nice days only? The less you drive, the more you will appreciate it when you take it out and the more stuff you can do to it without rushing.

One time I was pulled over a few blocks from my house. Because I was a white dude in a decent car, the rookie cop assumed I was picking strawberries.

Cop: What are you doing down in this neighborhood?

Me: I've lived here all my life.

Cop: You sure you weren't looking to buy some ass?

Me: Why would I pay money for the herp when I can get it for free from my ex-girlfriend.

Cop: Have a nice day. *walks to car*

But back on topic. Few things will ignite your automotive passion like a decently preserved 1G AWD. I turned down a trade offer for a 300ZX TT just because I drove them both and liked my doh-mestic AWD deathtrap better.

invest it in something worthwhile (stocks, house) that retains value rather than a car which is considered all loss basically.

Agreed...why spend 3k on a car to later lose it all on decreased value? Sure you may like some new rims or an intake...but do you really need it? Probably not. I am all for tuning up a car...but to a certain extent. Honestly, invest it for the future man...what if something happens down the road and you're broke? Invest Invest Invest!!!!

Im picking up a 1992 tsi in a few days, and was wandering how should i spend the first $600 i have left over in performance..
It has a catback and thats it..

I was thinking something like downpipe, walbro fuel pump, intake pipe, k &n, all free mods.. boost gauge and mbc...

let me know what you think??

Fix anything that needs repairs before you start upgrading.

If it's in good shape, then I would a catback/testpipe system onto your list.

Since you said all you have is a catback exhaust, I would recommend:
-boost gauge
-egt gauge
-oil temp gauge
-pillar pod or equivalent
-mbc
-cone air filter
-intake pipe
-downpipe

I don't see a benefit of installing a walbro fuel pump right now. If you go with a 255lph hp fuel pump then you'll need to get a afpr at the same time. Will you get a FMIC in the future? If you do then I don't recommend getting UICP right now unless you won't be getting the FMIC setup for a very long time. Are your tires good? You might want to invest in some good tires. Remember to take care of maintenance first! Which catback system do you have on your car?

Assuming there is nothing in need of repair or replacement and the car is ready for mods:

* tune up (plugs, wires, etc...)
* boost gauge
* logger
* intake
* downpipe

That's my list, in order. If you have any money left after that, pre-pay some of your car insurance or save it for future mods. :thumb:

I would check the timing belt, water pump, tune up, all fluids.
basicly be absolutely sure to get all your basic mantanence out of the way before anything.
since you have a Cat-back, I would look into a intake after that. (increase airflow is normally a good thing)

thats the first thing im gonna do is a big tune up, distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil, engine flush, check all belts and hoses, and at school we have a motor vac that cleans out the valves real well with some special mv4 chemical or whatever and it does a leakdown test, deadhead test.. then ill spend what little is left probably do all the free mods ive read about and get bigger intake pipe, k&n, and a downpipe, and maybe a mbc
