The GT32e shouldnt be much laggier than a b16g, should hit full boost around 3400rpms.

I had boughten this, i was 1 of the very first to own one. Sold it before ever installing and got a SCM50. Glad i did, theyre is a HUGE thread on dsmtalk if it ever works again about the turbo. I didnt like what i saw or heard, so didnt wanna be dissapointed. Not really a big hit, only a select few have run them.

BTW, heres a product review of the SCM50 LOL. Full boost 3900rpms. I did 12.3@112 on Pump gas, 24psi. Full Exhaust, FMIC, 680cc's, Walbro255, Maft, S-afc, Blown front KYB AGX's, Bald tires. Couldnt cut better than a 1.88 60ft that day. Car feels much stronger with the HKS272's, and can only imagine with a magnus manifold. Gets my seal of approval.

I say get a GT3255 internally gated from PTE and you will not be disappointed. I see full boost by 3700 (21 psi). I just need to get my custom chipping done and turn the boost up a couple more psi and the car should be hella fast..... For a "pump gas" car. Just a reminder though... the turbo is pretty big, so you have to do all that extra install work, but it is all worth it. My manifold is the new SBR cast manifold so that is why I did not have to "dent the water pipe" just FYI. :thumb:

Looks the same as every other PTE setup =P

Ive got some dyno numbers and information ill try to dig up, most of it was on dsmtalk.. I was far from impressed with the GT3251 and GT3255, HUGE debate on em. The GT3251 i remember someone doing 293whp with the same mods as me @20psi, but god only knows, most likely poor tuning because thats aweful.

Sk8er,

My car starts to build boost around 2300rpm and i hit full boost by 3700 to 3800rpm(21psi). Funny thing is that the first 10psi is really smooth, then by 15psi BAM, my head gets thrown back against the head rest and the car pulls like crazy. So far all my tuning has been on pump 93 or 94 octane from Sunoco. No knock even at full boost, like my first post mentioned I still need to lean things out some more.

Anconover,

When I said the GT32E feels more laggy then my B16G, that feeling is most likely a cause of my car being AUTO, the stock torque converter doesn't let me build boost into the powerband of the GT32. IPT will be doing a re-stalled convertor for me over the winter.

BTW, here is my GT32E installed, like Mackzero said, its a big turbo, be ready to make some changes under the hood. Also, my goal is to keep my car a comfortable daily driver, so I kept, power stering, AC, cruise control, ABS and the Auto trans with a trans cooler.

I would like to see this information. I talked to the guys at PTE and one in particular said that the GT3255 was one of his favorite turbos. The GT wheels help out a lot with a turbo this size, and he said I could run around 28 lbs. to 9K+ with this turbo. I actually blew the vac. hose off the wastegate and hit around 30 psi the first night I tuned the car. It was INSANE. I quickly fixed that problem. After final tuning, I am confident you will see dyno numbers that are MUCH higher than the ones you saw before.

hey the gt3255 is an alsome custom 50 trim spools great and makes some really nice power. mid 11's to be exact. hits 26 psi by 3800rpms.

by the way i have one for sale wiht less then 200 mines on it with free oil feed link pm if interested. :thumb:

i just want to clear up that the GT32E is not a 50trim. The GT32 is available as a GT3251 which features the 51mm (inducer) compressor wheel which spools up super fast and the GT3255 which utilizes the 55mm(inducer) which has about 200RPM more lag but a stronger top end. Both are 52trim compressor wheels.

I have a PTE GT3251E that I bought from Martin@speedfactor.
I have been running this turbo for about 3 months on my daily driven GVR4.
My previous turbo was a ported/clipped Big16G

IMO, this turbo is perfect for my usage as a daily driven car
The transient response is very good, so the turbo feels eager to spool even at part throttle anywhere above 3K rpm.
I believe what the GT turbine wheels buy you is this improved transient response at part throttle ( compared to the old "T" turbine wheels )

Take this with a grain of salt though, as I have never ridden in a T3/T04E-50trim car.
A friend of mine is in the middle of installing 50-trim on his 2G GS-T ( fwd ) car.

So, I will definitely do some comparison in the future, but even then it is not a valid comparison ( 1G versus 2G, 7.8:1 versus 8.5:1, 185K miles engine versus 40K miles engine, FWD versus AWD ).

If you want a direct comparison of GT3251 and 50-trim on the same car, same tune, back-to-back, check out the post by PSI2HI in the following thread:

i know you only got a grand to work with, but if you're looking for a top-notch turbo, i would recomend the gt3037. it's pretty expensive (three times the amount you want to spend) but have heard some great reviews about it. but do what you want, man.

Didn't want to start a new thread..

Does the lower heat shield fit with the PTE set up if smb. tried? Looks like there are even some threaded holes on the housing.

Yes, it does fit. I have the internally gated version. The threaded holes on the PTE turbine housing matches perfectly with stock 14B/16G turbine housing.

You have to trim the lower heatshield just a small amount to clear the internal-wastegate rod. I wouldn't run without heatshield for daily driven cars that could possibly see stop&go traffic.

my car is a Daily driver, see lots of stop go traffic, not a single heatshield on the car, no problems for 2 years.

Ah yes, the old gt3251/55 turbo. In my opinion, there was more hype and misinformation behind these turbo's than anything else. I'm not saying they are bad turbo's, but it would seem like they would have made the "old school" 50 trim extinct by now if they had lived up to the hype.

So ahh where's the cheapest place to get one? I thought I saw the gt3255 somewhere in the high 700's range. Anyone else know of this site? I am trying to find it now.

My system cost me $880, and includes a Polk header (sweet piece) and a gt3251 turbo. I'm looking to make anything over 400hp and i'm sure this set up can do that. Exaust is super sweet too(front exit).

thats hot! *note: this pic is minus the heat shields.

i have a pte 50 trim turbo, 50 trim comp wheel, 76 trim turbine wheel, self ported evo3 exhaust mani, machv tubular o2 housing, down into a 3 inch apexi exhuast no cat. my turbo is internally gated and i have no problems boosting 22-23 psi. holds solid, no creep, spike, or dropoff. but im looking to get a tial 38 mm external setup for xmas with a 14-15 psi spring. think im gonna mount it off my exhaust mani or the o2 housing. the reaosn i want to go external is mostly cause with this turbo and my 272/272 cams and a stock 8.5:1 motor i dont get full boost till 4,000 rpm's. i think that going with an external setup can help with spoolup a bit, maybe full boost by 3800. that and it sounds just plain silly dumping to atmosphere :p

well first i got all the fuel management (vpc,afr,680s,rewired 255,paxton fpr, bigger fuel lines)
Motor 2g pistons,.40 over,o ringed block and head. 190psi across the board.
turbo (t3 to4e 57,2g manifold ported,ported head,stock intake manifold,external on manifold,stock cams,cam gears)
I do have a datalogger,but no wideband
i have a starion front mount custom sheet metal endtanks and 2 1/2 inch inlet outlets.

so this is what i think my options are

1 wideband o2
2 bigger front mount
3 cams
4 intake manifold
I can prob get away with cams and the wideband or etc.

If i get a wideband it would be the innovative.

cams since everyone dont have hks,I seem to take a liking in the comp cams, the stage 2 or the ones equal too 272s.There is some web cams laying around, but i dont think you guys have any positive thoughts on them.I know cams will open the head up for the turbo and net big increases in power

intake manifold will make a big difference.
I think i can get away with the front mount for awhile.

Give me some insite
