All right so this is my first blog so dont fame me haha. This is the complete build blog for my 98 GS-t. Let me first introduce myself. I am a 17 year old high school senior. When i was first looking at cars i really wanted an lt1 firebird or camaro. When i was 16 i had saved up enough money to buy one. My parents said absolutely not.They gave me restictions, it had to be FWD and it could not be a v8. I stumbled upon my GS-t single owner 5 speed TURBO and i was like man i want that so i bought it without really knowing much about DSMs or what being a DSMer was all about. I picked up basic mechanical skills in my Auto class at school. But other than that i pretty much searched on good old dsmtuners and vfaq for help on most of my mods.

Day 1, the day i brought her home

My first mod after the stickers (which add 25hp btw) Was an Apexi N1 turbo back without a cat. My old exhaust refused to come out so i cut it with a hack saw d:

Then i put some A-pillar gauges in but with Boost, Bullshit AF gauge and volt gauge. The pod fit terribly btw. Back in my Ricer days i decided that i really wanted a loud BOV so i got a NGR type-s and a Ebay intake (which is actually pretty good)

I wanted more sound because the stock sound system was crap. Only my rear speakers would work, which is apparently a common problem. I replaced the Head unit and put an Apine type-r in the back. For my 17th Birthday i decided to buy myself a punishment racing FMIC. I got it in the mail and thought it would take me like 2 hrs tops to install WRONG!!! i spent my whole birthday putting that thing in, and then i drove around without a bumper for a few days, i felt pretty BA haha

After i put the intercooler in i took a break from the DSM for a few months just to focus on my finals and other things. The next mod were some coilovers. They were EMUSA coilovers which are basically ground controls (theres a thread somewhere on here about them)

I saved up after this and bought some wheels and tint. The rims are Rota D-2s with Khumos. Shortly after i put the rims on i went to the tack, got some crappy 1/8th mile times. This only motivated me more plus my clutch was slipping so it gave me an excuse to do my next mods. I replaced my clutch with a Fidanza 3.2, put a Gogspeedturbo 20g in there, some denso 660s, wally 190, taylor wires, synapse bov and MAf-t translator and SAFC-II. This was just the beginning of my headaches.

My parents were soooo mad after they saw what has happend to the garage. My car was parked for about 3 weeks i had one of my buddys come help me out, many late nights spent with the DSM instead of my girlfriend except not really

The end result was amazing

I got the car together the day before homecoming at our school. When i irst got there i was excited and stomped on it in first gear, which promted security to take away my student id for some reason

after this i had soo many promblems with fuel cut tuning for the bigger injectors etc. I ended up buying a fpr (aeromotive ftw) and an eprom ecu with a stage 3 keydriver chip from jeff (amazing btw). This solved most of my tunning headaches, The Maf-t and SAFC-II might not be junk but didnt work well with me. After this i got some minor mods, HIDs 8k headlights and 3k fogs and a carbon fiber hood for christmas

This is basically the cars present state, My latest mod to date are some DKS 272s I have my winter wheels on now for obvious reasons haha

So to sum it all up this whole proccess has taken me almost a year but im obviously not finished yet. Im going to college soon so i think the DSM will be put on the back burner for a bit but ill leave with some updated winter pics with my winter wheels.

This is a good blog. I just graduated high school. I never got a chance to drive my dsm in highschool but i finished it now and finishing up minor problems. That car looks hot with those rims and hood. be careful with the clutch, check to see if your crank moves in and out, if it does, its a good idea to change the main bearings and go back to a stock clutch til you get a 6 bolt. Ive seen too many of my friends 2gs develop crank walk in a short time from adding act clutches.

The synapose BOV is awesome. It theres no compressor surge and it sounds great.
Thanks for the responses guys. Ive had the clutch in for about 5k and i havent experienced any problems. As far as the DSM i dont really have the time to do anything anymore ): college is coming up and i need to focus on that.

car looks beautiful in the parking garage and out in the snow. Almost looks like the tire tracks would paint the scene that you were having some fun before you shot the pictures? keep up the great work. I remember being 17 when i got my dsm and being in college. The budget dissapears quickly. and from my first posts to now my build has changed extremely from a fwd highway car to getting an awd and making it holset powered. dsms. so many options so little time and money

nice car! how much of a drop are those coilovers? and where can i get a set for my 92 tsi fwd. im waiting on my punishment raceing fmic so i can boost up from 12 psi i got a small16g with 560 injectors i wana get a big16g ported and cliped but the car was bought with the upgraded turbo from the last owner. hows the act clutch also? im lookin into one with a lsd too

Wow tahnks for the replys guys. To answer some questions the coilovers dropped the car about 3". I dont have an act clutch i have a fidanza 3.2. Its amazing, but there is a lot of chatter being that its a 4 puck disc. As far as awd swap concered noooo haha i dont have the fab skills yet to do something like that or the money. My dream is after college to pick up a 1g awd roll with some slicks on the street and just rape haha

I have yet to dyno the car because ive only gotten it all together now in the winter, i would like to dyno it sometime in the spring. I work about 40hrs a week at a car dealership and since i dont really have any bills i pocket the cash haha. Before this i worked at a grocery store thats why the mods were slow, just the fmic, coilovers, and rims.
