The DSM breaks down once again! Extreme bogging, can't go above 3k rpms

Just got it home finally....


Once again it broke, this time it seems like a leak issue I assume. Well I was driving and when I hit boost in 2nd gear, my car took a dump. Itried to pull off wigth my emergencies but everything was running wierdly, idle was jumpy and the car would eventually die. I kept turning it on and it would eventually die again. It idles very weird, when I press the gas it goes up and then tries to go back to 0 rpms but eventually goes up again. It idles steadily on neutral but sounds wierd, like its puffing (idk how to describe it). Anyway, when I babied it home, i kept hearing an air noise which I assume is a boost leak.... Just the other day I had a cyl missfire on cyl 3 which I changed the plug for that one and it worked again. No check engine light is on. Recently rebuilt head because of blown head gasket, new alternator and new head rebuild gasket set so everything is new. I don't know what it could be and I don't have a boostleak tester right now.


Any ideas?

edit: found the problem.... I'm a jackass haha. Blew the lower intake pipe right off the Jpipe.

I'm glad to hear you found the problem and I was literally about to tell you to check for that.

when i had my first dsm i used to blow the jpipe boot all the time it was like nails to a chalk board to me

Is there anyway to stop it haha. I'm putting a new clamp on if that helps. I posted this in the spur of the moment since I was in a rush.

Spray a thin layer of hairspray on the joiner in your troublesome area. Assemble the parts and wait 30 minutes for the hairspray to dry. This will make the surface sticky to hold pieces together and prevent leaks, but not strongly adhere or damage anything. Many people use hairspray on every connection - not only does it make for better connections, but it also makes pieces easier to slide together when you first apply it. Another option is having your trouble pipe beaded with a lip.

Hair spray works really well on the pipe then slide the coupler on...makes it nice and sticky for the coupler...sounds like a Hoosier way but it works well and alot of people do it!

Never would have thought of using Hairspray, ah the simple things. Good advice.
