I am having a problem where my car will run fine when i start it up and drive around. But as soon as i hit 2k rpm the car will begin bogging down until 3k rpm then it will be fine.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem and where i should start diagnosing?

My car is a completely stock talon tsi awd

Thanks in advance
Henri

I did a boost leak check and had the smallest pin hole leak. I fixed that but i am still having the problem, i fine that when i rev the engine with no load there isnt nearly as much bogging down but it is still slightly there. As soon as i put it into first the bogging down gets really bad until i hit 3k rpm.

If i turn off the car and turn it back on it will sometimes fix it for 1 pull but then it will just start bogging down again after the second.

Any ideas???

Thanks
Henri

I know this isn't a turbo car but, when I had a cracked plug on one of my other cars, it would miss a little bit around 2-3k and then pull to redline just fine. Just a thought. I know turbo cars are alot more sensitive.

See thats what happened to me, I just replaced them. Then it would miss a bit at around 2k. Idk if I caused the crack or if it was defective. It was a very small crack going up the white insulator.

the plugs were fine their all gapped at .030" but i am using NGK's BPR6EGP dunno if running these NGKs would cause that.

Do you have a multimeter on hand. Maybe you can check the resistance of your wires. See if they are in spec. Sounds to me like it's probaly just 1 cyl missing for a brief sec. Can you explain exactly how it acts?

yea i do have a meter on me isnt the best but ill check the resistance of each wire.

pretty much when im driving the car ill have power until 2k rpm then it will start to bog down and ill have pretty much no power until 3k rpm when the turbo hits. It also takes for ever for the car to go from 2k-3k rpm.

I also found that when i rev it neutral it will go through 2k-3k rpm no problem

Sounds kind of like my problem a bit. Yours doesn't sound as bad but...

That's really strange. Hopefully someone else can chime in. The only thing I can tell you is to start checking sensors and stuff.

Well i fixed the problem with the bogging down between 2-3k rpm range. Since i put a 97 motor in my 95 talon i had to switch my injector firing pins as well. Soon as i did that it fixed the problem.

I am still finding that it will randomly bog down sometimes and i think it is still misfiring. I did have a check engine light on but i hooked up a scanner and it gave me p0140 i think which is the cat o2 sensor but thats only coming up because i dont have the exhaust on at all.
