test drove my future eclipse gs-t

listen test drove the car...the engine makes a ticking weird sound when the car is in gear at low rpm. once the cluth is disengaged there is no sound. PLease diagnose

It is called crankwalk. Stay as far away from that car as possible. You would be an absolute fool to buy it. When you are pressing the clutch the noise you hear is the crank "tapping" on the crank angle sensor. When you let off the clutch it stops because there is longer the force of the pressure plate forcing the crank to "walk". Find a different car. If you want some more info on it check out DSM.org or Vfaq.com. It is not something you can fix either.

my car makes that same noise but i have a 6bolt... any clue what it is on a 6bolt...

6 bolts can crankwalk too. It could just be a bad lifter though, but if it is going away with the clutch being disengaged that would be new to me.

it is 6bolt with about 45k miles on it... could it be.... its sounds like something is rattling around... then when i press the clutch down it goes away

Well in a crankwalked car it makes noise when you press the clutch down, so it isn't walked. You should start a new thread though, no need to hijack his thread.

here is what is happening. when the car is in neutral no noise. once i put it in gear i hear a weird sound like in third gear doing like 30 mph i hear a loud tick tick tick tick tick like a friggin bug. the cluth is cool everything engages nicely. trannys like new. condition of car is awesome....no flaws one tiny crack like 1 inch in driver seat thats it. nice nice car. even if crankwalk is an issue. i'll jus buy an engine block and replace it with a 7 bolt....how much u think it is....thanks so much

Sounds to be just like lifter tick, typical dsm thing.
