One of the mechanics at mitsubishi test drove my car after i had it in there, and he said the was a grinding noise that he thought would be the LSD and i should have it checked out. I noticed this also but its only when i let the clutch out fast. My clutch slips in 1st and 2nd, and the grinding is coming twoard the rear. So i was just wondering can the LSDs cuase grinding noises and is that bad for anything else but the LSD? My AWD system works fine besides the grinding. Thanks for any input

My 90 AWD also makes some kind of noise sometimes only when I am coasting in gear it is most noticable. I just made sure the case was full of oil and it wasnt leaking. Other than the noise I have no problems with it. I am not sure its the transfer case but it sounds like it and all comes from the rear of the car

Have him explain to the whole wide DSM world what the fu(k LSD he's talking about.

Your limited slip is done through a viscous coupling. They die silently.

Don't ever go to that shop again. Your transfer case may be on its way out.

Yes 90s have the vicious LSD, i think on the VIN number there are different model types 1-6, and 6 is the "special" model which i have (has LSD and EPROM, no ABS).

Yeah i wont be going back there again, i just thought trained mitsubishi techs should have some knowledge on dsms, i guess not. Ha when i first asked them if they worked on dsms a lot they just said "sure". Well learn from your mistakes, thanks for the help everybody.
