First I did search but did not find a post that helped.

When the car sits and idles it seems to stay normal when it comes to the temp. I took it out and got on it a bit and it never overheats when driving but once I got home and let it sit it looked like it was going to get hot. It was getting higher on the temp gauge than it did normally.

The coolant level never changes but the previous owner took out the drivers side cooling fan and left the passenger side which I didn't see kick on before turning off the car.

I was reading and saw there were 2 sensors that tell them when to kick on. Where would they be located?

Thanks in advance.

??? took out what? removed the fans?

Driver side fan turns on with the ac. I'm not sure where the sensor is for a 1g that turns on the other one.

Oh ok, well that is plugged in but not sure if it worked or not.

I do know that I am missing a plug all together. It would plug into a sensor that comes off the thermostat housing and points to the passenger side of the car. Anybody know what color wires go to that sensor? and would that cause the fan not to work?

I let it run today earlier today and the temp gauge gets up to the 2nd line right before it would be on it's way to hot and the fan never came on.

You can't see the sensor fully because of the manual boost controller that came on the car.

Alot of this I am trying to fix from the previous owner.

The fan might be bad you could run wires fromthe battery directly to it and see if it runs. I'm not sure of which wires are what on a 1g

Check your radiator cap and make sure that it's not worn down. As for the Radiator Fan, the driver side is for A/C and Passenger side is for radiator cooling.

While your at it, make sure that your hoses are holding pressure and not leaking. When was the last time you replaced your T-Stat or Water pump? Look into this as well.

Good luck

That sensor (It is a switch) is if the engine overheats it shuts off the A/c compresser. I would say it is time for a new fan switch. My 90 did the same thing about two months ago.

One trick when you change it out is leave your raditor cap on and locked down, when you pull the switch there will be a vacuum in the cooling sustem and you will loose less coolant(and make less of a mess) and needless to say do it on a cold system.

Yeah, I ran wires from the battery to the fan plug and I got nothing from it. It didn't budge or even try to spin. I am not sure if I am hooking it up right though. I have been searching around and it seems there is a certain way to jump the fan to test the fan motor itself.

So I guess the fan could be bad then?

Thanks!
