Well i thought i fixed my car with a different tcu. The new one wasnt in the best of shape but it looked better than old one so i tried it. Took car out for 10min drive and it seemed fine then as i was pulling into my road the car started acting up in a different way than before.

Taking off from stop it would seem like it wasnt in drive at all and would free rev then when i let rpms drop back down it would catch gear and go. after moving it would randomly rev in gear kinda like it was slipping , and it would kind of jerk the car in a fast motion back and fourth kind of like it wanted to down shift but then decided it didnt want to. I was also hearing a kind of power steering wine coming from trans area when i was in any gear beside park . I would park car for 10 min at home then go back out to see if it still did it and 90% of the time it would do it again after i got like a mile down the road. Also when i went from Park to any gear it would take a solid 5-10 second to even realize i went into a gear before it would kick in.

So i was wondering if the tcu was junk again. I took the tcu out of the car and left it unplugged and went for a ride. The car no longer has that delay going from Park to any gear it goes right in like it should. and it drove great for about 5 miles ( laggy cause in limp mode ) but great. Then it KIND OF did the same free rev thing again but very little and it sort of did the wanting to kick down thing again. but it wasnt even as close to as before. Im not sure if it was just cause the car was confused what was going on cause there was no tcu or what. But i would say it drove 80% better tcu less.

I checked fluid, checked wires all seem good.
Should i just get a good tcu and see ?
Warped end clutch ( if tcu was in car it would go into overdrive )?
If i got the 99$ shift box that will get rid of tcu all together ?

If it is still slipping the the tcu out and the trans in limp mode than it probably a clutch pack in the trans. 90 percent of time if it is slipping than it is either a bad clutch pack or low on fluid. What color is the fluid and what does it smell like.

Red, smells ok i guess ( hate the normal smell LOL ) but why would it work some times and some times not? seems odd. can a end clutch cause all this ?

End clutch is for overdrive. If it is slipping in other gears than the problem is elsewhere. If the tcu had a problem it would already be in limp mode and it would act the same with or without the tcu.

i had an issue like this on 4r55e i just rebuilt.. a pressure leak in any of the main circuits will do some crazy stuff.. a cross leak at the valvebody from a bad gasket etc. but the whining sound from the pump sounds like you should look there. obviously when u took out tcu it put full line pressure.. someone overriding any internal leaks

+1 on the pump. dont forget to include the torque converter when diagnosing. This may be a good time for a rebuild, if you havent done one already.
