TCU 92 TSI problem

Going to look at a 92 tsi AWD but he says it has a bad TCU, start in 3rd, He says you also cant put it manually in 1st or 2nd. Should I bother checking this out? or is it something other than a bad tcu?

Wont take less than 1400

The problem imo is if you put a good TCU in and then find out tranny has internal problems it will become a major headache.

Pass this up. Nobody sells a car because the tcu is bad. Its worth fixing to sell because you can get more money. That's unless it needs a trans.

Maybe check the tcu codes, search 1g TCU codes, and see if its in limp due to clutch pack slippage.
