I just removed the 4 vaccum lines that come off the TB and now my car has bad idle surge. I capped the nipples off on the TP. 2 of the lines go to a thermal thing under the radiator cap, I removed the lines from that to the TP and left what was left of those 2 and the 2 that go somewere else. While I did this I also replaced the spark plugs with NGK BPR6ES gapped to 0.030in. They plugs that were in there were gapped to 0.040-0.050in.
So.... Would the idle surge be caused my the vaccum lines removal? Do I have to cap off or do something with the rest of the lines after I disconect them from the TP?
Or... Could it be smething with the spark plugs.. Also, the car idles at 2000-2500 but it did that before I messed with anything.

hm..... tomorrow im going to hook all the vaccum hoses back up and see if that the problem or if its the plugs.

well it SOUNDS like a vacuum related issue. Did you block the source of the lines as well as the throttle body?
Your high Idle is another ine of those it could be six different thing's problems. But with the 1G cars it's usualy the ISC going out.
Does it idle that high at start up then get better as the car warms up? Is your surge persistant after the car is warm or does it calm down eventually?
If your ISC is going out, your car will idle high at start up, then hit fuel cut five or six times before eventually calming down to a regular idle.
So it is possible all of your lines are blocked off right, but your ISC is crap like half of the 1G owners out here and you get to have all the high idle and surge you could ever want! You lucky guy you!
Let us know what you find out or if you have any more questions. :talon:

ok, im going out to mess with it now but it did not have idle surge before I messed with the vaccum lines and changed the plugs

I removed the charcole canister, egr valve and blocked it off, and removed and capped all vaccum lines going to and from them. Will this fix the problem or make it worse?

I have boost leaks all over the place and im pretty sure that my isc is dead. It idles at like 2000-2500 and surges and doesnt stop even when warm. Would the boost leak and bad idle surge cause this?

Or a misadjusted biss screw or leaky biss o-ring. I would replace the o-ring and try and reset your idle.
