I did a boost leak test yesterday to find that something was leaking in my TB. I was wondering if the shaft seal leak was common among our cars. I also read up on vfaq how to do it but it looks confusing. Is it really that bad? :dsm:

Once you start to take it apart, everything will become more apparent. The most important things are the position of the spring and TPS adjustment. Good luck.

You can get them from the mitsu dealer, or use two o-rings if you are in a pinch. You can get those from your local hardware store. You will need that and some silicone plumbing grease.
Here is the vfaq for it. http://www.plymouthlaser.com/tbor.htm Things are slightly different since we have 2g's but basically all the same. The part number for the O-ring is in there. I used this method and it works great so far(2500 miles). Good luck

MachV sells them also.

I ended up swapping to a 1GTB and had to do this. I remember having 2 sets of VFAQ's for the shaft seal change. It was easy as long as you take your time. :thumb:

I had no luck with the o rings.. no matter what i did they leaked...I got mine from machV and they seal fine ...my advice do it right or do it twice they're only 11 bucks

This is stupid i called mitsubishi and they said they didnt have that part and i went down to Napa and they said they didnt carry it either. I would rather not get it from a hardware store is there any more ideas. does anyone have to mitsu part # or something.

I bought 2 sets for my 90 and of course I now know it won't work on a 90 TB. PM me if you want them, I forgot how much I paid but we can work it out via pm.

there is no part number that I know of. get some o-rings from Home Depot or spend $10 at MachV, those are your only options (unless you just buy a whole new throttle body)

I just got home and checked the box for you. It's made by Chicago Rawhide part# CR10x14x3 HM4 R. A local old school parts store I often visit ordered it for me.
