Before the flames start I read all the debates and opinions on where to tap it and this is my decision. SO please leave it alone.

My question now is where on the O2 housing do i get the shop to tap it? (i'm not doing it :) ) also where do i run the wires?

If some one has any pics or tips I would greatly appreciate it.

tapping it like this isn't going to be accurate temps from the motor. Though then again, its only for when your done tunning, to make sure you temp stays where its soppose to be (im sure this could be accomplished from anywhere on the manifold to dp). THough do what you wish...

thank you.

And I dont give a shit if its dead accurate on engine temps. Its going to be for monitoring not tuning.

Agreed :D

I have dsmlink and a techedge wideband to tune. The egt is just there to monitor and if something does go wrong, the temps will rise and fall just as if it was in the manifold. I did not want to tap my dnp manifold so that is why I chose the o2 housing as well. I've got mine taped right after the o2 sensor on my rnr o2 elim downpipe. Good luck and have fun :thumb:

Umm... then why the hell is it in there in the first place? If you are monitoring it, might as well use it to tune. Otherwise, you are just wasting your money having one in the first place. The wideband is one of the best methods of tuning. I no longer use an EGT. Hell, i was running mid 11's last year, with no EGT gauge. I ain't got time to look at that shit. But, your car, your way.

There are other and better ways of tuning a car then an egt gauge. Once you have the car tuned you can monitor your egt gauge to see what the temp reading is. At this point it does not matter if it is in the manifold, o2 housing, or at the end of the dp. I dont always have my wideband/laptop in my car and do not always monitor my wideband readings. If I ever see the gauge rise or fall from the temp reading I got when it was tuned, that throws up a warning signal in my head to check to see what is going on. By all means, it is not a waste of money even if you dont tune with it.

For example...I was loading some fuel and timing trims from dsmlink that I made to use with c16...loaded the file, went driving around...while wot in 3rd I noticed my egts were a lot higher then usual, ding ding ding....went back home and looked at the file I just loaded and I loaded the wrong file. So, it does help...but the gauge wasnt the only thing that told me things were wrong, so was my knock gauge (check engine light) and the engine sputtering at wot :D
