This is for those of you who are having problems with your tail lights after an Eclipse conversion.

Due to the way the Talon's lighting was set-up from the factory, its is possible to have your tail lights illuminate just like the EDM Eclipses. This article will explain how to just that, as well as a slight alteration to the EDM lighting.

Tools Necessary:
Wire Cutters/Crimpers
Butt Connectors
Pliers
Electrical Tape
Phillips Screwdriver
A pair (both sides) of harnesses from a 1G containing two dual-filament bulbs.
A pair of 2G Talon tail light harnesses (a few people try to use the Eclipse harnesses which is where problems arise)

Here is a diagram of the stock Talon harness:

In case you are having problems understanding it... I have decided to label the two harnesses X and Y. Harness X has the white connector and is secured in the tail lights. Harness Y has the blak connector and attaches to the corner socket.

Harness X has 5 wires running into it.
Slot 1 is the Reverse Lights
Slot 2 is the Parking Lights
Slot 3 is the Ground
Slot 4 is the Blinker
Slot 5 is the Brake Light

Harness Y has 3 wires running into it. All the wires running to this harness have silver dashed lines on them.
Slot 6 is the Parking Light
Slot 7 is the Ground
Slot 8 is the Brake

* NOTICE: ALL THE SLOT NUMBERS WERE LABELLED BY ME, THEREFORE MY DESCRIPTION WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY DIAGRAMS OTHER THAN THOSE THAT FOLLOW.

I'm assuming you already know how to remove the tail lights since you've already done the Eclipse conversion, so I will skip that step.

Step 1:
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the Talon harnesses from the tail lights. With the Talon harnesses in hand, use the pliers to remove the red/blue wires from each harness (only on the X connector side). This wire is no longer needed since the other end should be hooked up to your reverse lights. Once completely removed, the wire will have a metal tip on the end.
Next you want to pull the green/blue wires from the harnesses.

Step 2:
Now you need to cut the white connector from the harness. Try to leave as much wire as possible coming from the connector, since you will need to splice in a new harness later. The wires and sockets can be thrown out since you will not be using them. Keep the white connectors, which should only have a black, a green, and a green/white wire coming from them.

This is how the 1G harness should look:

I'm labeling this white connector Z.
Slot A is the Parking Light
Slot B is the Ground
Slot C is the Brake light

Step 3:
Take the 1G harnesses and cut off the white connectors, just like in Step 3, only this time cut as close to the connector as possible. This time you can pitch the connector, but hang on to the wires/sockets.

Step 4:
Use butt connectors to mate the white Talon connectors (X) to the 1G harnesses. Hopefully I don't need to tell you which wires go together, but just incase... green/white to green/white, black to black, and green to green.

You now have parking and brake lights. Screw your new harnesses back into the tail lights.

Step 5:
Now you can operate in the car. Use the pliers to pull the green/blue wire from the driver's side harness (these are the harnesses that are in the Talon), and pull the green/red wire from the passenger's side harness.

Step 6:
Once the wires are free, give yourself some slack on them since they are going to connect to the outside corner harnesses. Clip the metal tips off.
Since you are in the cutting mood, take the green wire with silver dashes going to the single corner socket of both sides and cut it.

Step 7:
Use butt connectors to splice the gree/blue wire (driver's side) and the green/red wire (passenger's side) to the green wire with silver dashes on their respective sides. These are the blinker wires, so make sure they go on the socket side of the wire, NOT the side running into the car. The end running into the car can be taped up now since it is no longer necessary.

Re-assemble the back of your car and plug everything back in.

You have now completed the alteration of the EDM tail light set-up, meaning, all three lights are parking lights, the outside bulb is your blinker/4-ways, and the middle two are brake lights.

To finish with the real EDM lighting set-up (according to GT4, since I'm only assuming they were accurate with how the Eclipse GT lights up in the game) you only need to cut the green/white wire with silver dashes going to each corner bulb and tape the ends up so there is no connection.

Now they should light up as: the middle two lights are parking and brake lights only, the outside bulb is strictly a blinker/4-way.

Finish installing your interior and go out and enjoy your newly working tail lights!
