Talon isn't starting, may be starter.

Ok, so the last week or so my 96 Talon has been starting very slowly. It's hard to describe. It's like i'm trying to start the car in below freezing tempretures. It'll click over real slowly and then start. That was until yesterday when I tried starting it and it sounded like it was about to start, and then just flat out died. I unhooked the battery and got it tested today, assuming it was that. No dice, the battery holds a charge and isn't even a year old anyway. I'm assuming it's the starter now, but I don't want to just throw parts at it. I'm taking it to a local mechanic later today, but I figured i'd get some opinions from here too before I make any decisions.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. I can elaborate more if I need to .

Clean your batery terminals realy good with sandpaper, try starting it while getting a jump from someone. If it still wont start then its not the battery. Ive had a bad battery even when they tested it and said it was fine. Does the starter make a clicking sound? If it does and it wont turn over the engine then its the starter.

Are you able to push start it?

If so its either the starter or starter relay...

You can do it yourself, it isnt hard at all to do.. plus once you remove the starter you can get it tested before you buy another one..

Where you at by rockford? The starter is not hard, just time consuming if it's your 1st time..Advance or whatever will test it right there for ya..There 74 or 84$ with core exchange..

Tried push starting it, popping the clutch, jumping it. No dice. Had to get it towed. It was an interesting afternoon.

Turned out to be the starter. Got a rebuilt one, me and a buddy tried doing it ourselves, but starters on DSM's are apparently buried under the hood. Took it into the shop and got it back this evening. Runs like a champ.
